Schools In Galle And Matara Districts Closed Down For Two Days Over Adverse Weather

Gunasekare has today (23)ordered the authorities to close down all schools in Galle and Matara District tomorrow  (24) and day after due to the adverse weather  conditions prevailing in  at Southern Province.

Due to the heavy continuous showers prevailing in Southern province many roads and sub -roads as well as houses had been submerged and landslides and  tree falls had Been reported .

Meanwhile The Meteorology Department has announced that heavy showers exceeds 200 milo meters will be experienced in Southern, Western,Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces tonight  (23)assisted with occasional strong winds . 

A Female Has Died Due To A Landslide In Wanduramba Area

A 36 year old female has died and
another female had been injured and hospitalIzed as  their houses had been destroyed due to a  Landslide Occurred  at Kokawala ,Nawala area of Wanduramba Police  Division today (23).

Due to the landslide a Soil Mound had collapsed over two houses in the area and as a result a  female had been recovered whilst under the rubble in her house .However she had later succumbed to her injuries after being admitted to Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for treatment  it has been reported.

A disabled female resides in other house nearby had been injured and hospitalized due to the landslide.

Three Local Fishermen Had Gone Missing

Sri Lanka Navy have launched a search
operation to find out three Local fishermen who had gone missing after going to sea from Seindumaridu area in Kalmunai last Thursday (19) following the complaints received to the Police from missing  fishermen 's  relatives.

After going to see for fishing from Seindumaridu area family members have lost communication with the fishermen it has been reported.


Navy Have Recovered 470 Kilo Grammes Of Beedi Leaves

Sri Lanka Navy have recovered 470 Kilo
Grammes of Beedi leaves whilest floating in the sea area of Valaipadu at Eastern part of Iranathivu Island in KilinochchI yesterday  (21).

The stock of Beedi Leaves had been handed over to the Customs office in Jaffna for further investigations.
