A 33 Year Old Female Swimming Instructor Had Drowned Whilst Training Small Children In Swimming

A 33 year old female SwImming
instructor had drowned in a Swimming pool at Katugasthota in Kandy last Sunday (01)whilst training 14 small children in swimming it has been reported .

Whilst giving training in the Swimming pool she had drowned and other instructors rescued her and admitted to the Kandy Teaching Hospital where she was pronounced dead .


Navy Recovered 550 Kilo Grammes Of Beedi Leaves During Last Two Days At Iranathivu Island

Northern Naval Command officers
have recovered 550 Kilo Grammes of Beedi leaves off the shore at Iranathivu Island during a search operation carried out there in last two days (Sunday and Monday ).

The stock of Beedi leaves stored in Eight parcels and two of them had been recovered on  Sunday and Eight yesterday  (02).

The parcels had been handed over to the Customs office in  Jaffna for further investigations.

Eight Line Houses Destroyed Due To A Fire Erupted In Hatton

Eight line houses attached to a Line
House scheme at Rosita Estate in Hatton -Dimbula Police Division  had been destroyed and eight families were displaced as a result of a sudden fire erupted in a Line House this evening  (02).

The fire which spreads to other line houses had been doused by the Estate Workers with assistance of the Dimbula Police officers and the fire Brigade officials attached to Hatton -DiKoya Urban Council.

Due to the fire personal  belongings and a Motorcycle had been  destroyed ,However no casualties  had been reported according to reports .

The cause of the fire has  not yet been revealed. 

Ministry Of Transport Looking At Possibility Of Constructing A Railway Line From Katunayake Airport To Veyangoda

Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation
is looking at the possibility of constructing a Railway line from Katunayake Airport to Veyangoda  in view of promoting tourism according to Minister Of Transport and Civil Aviation Arjuna Ranathunge .

Through a Railway Line from Katunayake Airport to Veysngoda both tourists and locals arriving in from other countries could travel to places like Kandy, Jaffna ,Trincomalee and Badulla via Veysngoda without coming to Colombo Minister has stated.
