Eight Line Houses Destroyed Due To A Fire Erupted In Hatton

Eight line houses attached to a Line

House scheme at Rosita Estate in Hatton -Dimbula Police Division had been destroyed and eight families were displaced as a result of a sudden fire erupted in a Line House this evening (02).

The fire which spreads to other line houses had been doused by the Estate Workers with assistance of the Dimbula Police officers and the fire Brigade officials attached to Hatton -DiKoya Urban Council.

Due to the fire personal belongings and a Motorcycle had been destroyed ,However no casualties had been reported according to reports .

The cause of the fire has not yet been revealed.

Ministry Of Transport Looking At Possibility Of Constructing A Railway Line From Katunayake Airport To Veyangoda

Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation

is looking at the possibility of constructing a Railway line from Katunayake Airport to Veyangoda in view of promoting tourism according to Minister Of Transport and Civil Aviation Arjuna Ranathunge .

Through a Railway Line from Katunayake Airport to Veysngoda both tourists and locals arriving in from other countries could travel to places like Kandy, Jaffna ,Trincomalee and Badulla via Veysngoda without coming to Colombo Minister has stated.

Well Known Medical Professor Professor Carlo Fonseka Has Passed Away -His Remains Handed Over To Ragama Medical Faculty This Evening

Well known famous Medical Professor ,Author,Lyricist and fluent Speaker Professor Carlo Fonseka has passed away this morning (02) at the age of 86 years .

He was Born in 04th of March 1933 and received his primary and secondary education from Maristella Collage ,Negambo and Saint Joseph Collage ,Colombo respectively .
After being selected to Colombo Medical Faculty he had completed his postgraduate studies at Edinburgh University .

Professor Carlo had worked as a reputed lecturer and Professor who had taught Medical students around four decades .

He was appointed as the president of Sri Lanka Medical Council in 2012 where he held the post until 2017 .

As a prominent lyricist he penned several popular songs including "Ruduru Thuru Wwadule "m"Ratthran Duwe " and "Rosa Kusumak Pipi " songs .Professor Carlo was an active member of leftist movement and a member of Leftist Lanka Samasamaja Party (LSSP)

The late professor was one of the pioneer Anti Tobacco and Anti Alcohol activist in the country .His remains had been handed over to t he Ragama Medical Faculty this evening accordance with his request .
