GMOF Has Stressed Island Wide Strike Scheduled To Be Launched By GMOA Tomorrow(22) Will Become A Flop
The Government Medical Officers Forum (GMOF ) has today stated that the 24 hour long Island wide strike action Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) is scheduled to be launched tomorrow (22) will become a flop as 90 percent of Government doctors will not participating the strike .
According to the GMOF President Dr.Rukshan Bellana GMOA will face contempt of court charges as their demands for the strike are politically motivated ones indirectly attempting to influence authorities not to implement court orders .
GMOF Will not support the strike action of GMOA He has stressed .
Meanwhile GMOA which earlier announced a two day Island wide strike action has today said it will launch a one day token strike tomorrow .
Cigarette Is The Only Product That Kills One Out Of Two Consumers In Sri Lanka -ADIC And CCT
Cigarette has been identified as the only product that kills one out of two of it's consumers in Lanka according to the ADIC (Alcohol and Drugs Information Center ) and Center For Combating Tobacco (CCT).
Around 57 persons are being killed daily and 20,000 annually due to the cigarette smoking these centers have announced .
Although Sri Lanka has increased the Cigarette Tax and implemented pictorial health warnings covering 80 percent of the Cigarette pack Sri Lankans had spent Rs.208 million daily to purchase cigarettes according to the Ceylon Tobacco Company statistics released in 2011 .This money can be utilized for personal and community development ADIC has stated.
Addressing a Media Workshop held at "Amora Lagoon" Hotel at Katunayake yesterday (20)the Director of CCT attached to the Colombo Medical Faculty Dr.Mahesh Rajasuriya has stressed that the Tobacco company is still attempting to increase Cigarette smokers by creating advertisements which targeted youth and adults by addressing their emotions .Through Addressing emotions the company has tried to attract people for their Tobacco products he has stated .

A Permanent Water Pond Has Been Opened For Wild Animals In Sigiriya Wild Life Park Who Are Facing Water Shortage
The permanent Water pond which located at the Sigiriya Wewa (River) has been opened by two trained Elephants for the Wild Animals in Sigiriya Wild Life Park .
After the opening a large number of Wild Animals in the Park including Elephants ,Dears ,Monkeys are being arrived to the Pond to drink water it has been revealed .
The water pond had been built with the cost of Rs.380,000 .
