Around 27 Houses Had Been Damaged Due To The Strong Winds And Showers In Six Districts Last Night (07)

strong winds සඳහා පින්තුර ප්‍රතිඵලAround 27 houses had been damaged due to a heavy showers and strong winds occurred in six Districts of the Island last night according to Disaster Management Center.

These houses are being located at Rathnapura ,Vavuniya,Puttalam,Kegalle ,Hmabanthota and Nuwara Eliya Districts and around 298 Families are being affected due to this situation the Center has announced.

As a result of the strong winds and heavy showers prevailed in last night trees had fallen across the roads in Colombo ,Gampaha ,Thrincomalee,Matale,Polonnaruwa and Kandy Districts and blocked them it has been reported.

Due to the falling of trees across the Kelani Valeey Railway line last night  as a result of  the strong winds prevailed in,There's a Train delay occurred for few hours this morning (08). some areas  have experienced power cuts  as a result of the damaging power  lines .

A Sudden Fire Destroyed An Old Tourist Bunglow In Hatton

  1. A Tourist Bunglow built by the British
    imperialists more than 100 years ago at Hatton -Norwood area had been destroyed this evening (08)due to a sudden fire it has been reported .


The Tourist Bungalow where a branch of a State Bank has been located, near the DiKoya Base Hospital had suddenly caught fire this evening and it spreads rapidly. However the fire Brigade of the Hatton -DiKoya Urban Council along with the Police officers attached to  Norwood Police and residents of the area had doused the fire before spreading it further.

No casualties had been reported as there's no one inside the Bunglow at the time of the incident.

The cause of the fire has not yet been revealed .Norwood Police are conducting an investigations on the incident .

COPE Committe Meetings Are Open To Media From Tomorrow (09)

The meetings and discussions of the
Parliamentary Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE )will open to  the Media from tomorrow  (09)according to the Speaker Karu Jayasuriya.

Accordingly Media will be able to cover ,Broadcast and telecast  the meetings and discussions  of COPE live 
 from tomorrow .

Speaker believes that the Media will act responsibly during covering of COPE meetings .At present Media are allow to cover the meetings of Paiamentary select committee probing Easter Sunday attacks .
