Pallewela Police OIC Had Been Transferred Over Poisoning Of Illicit Liquor
Police Department has transferred the
OIC of Pallewela Police to the Kalutara Police Superintendent's office attached to Southern Kalutara Police station to fascilitate the ongoing investigations on Deaths occurred as a result of poisoning illicit liquor in Banduragoda ,MEERIGAMA since 01st of August .
Investigators are investigating on whether the illicit liquor poisoning connected to The Police OIC and whether he had committed a crime by protecting those who were responsible for the incident.
Meanwhile Residents of Pallewela area had protested in front of the residence of Illeagal illicit liquor Spot owner .today.
Police have arrested the Illicit liquor spot owner and another person yesterday over the deaths and they have been remamded until this Wednesday(07)

Around 13 Persons Died Due To Illicit Liquor Poisoning At Meerigama .
The number of deaths occurred due to poisoning of illicit liquor (Kasippu) at illicit Liquor spot in Banduragoda ,Meerigama had risen to 13 with 02 deaths occurred today (05) .
Two persons including a 40 year old resident of Gaspe and a 60 year old resident of Katana area have died today due to poisoning of illicit liquor it has been reported ,
More than 20 persons have been hospitalized including in Ragama Teaching Hospital with the symptoms including vomiting ,Diarrhea ,loss of vision and Eye pain .
Police have sent the infernal body parts of the deceased to the Government Analyst for further investigations

Police Fired Tear Gas And Water Cannons To Disperse University Students Protest
Riot Police have fired tear gas and
water cannons to disperse a University Students protest March organized by Inter University Students Federation at Colombo Fort this evening (05).
Tear gas and Water Cannons fired towards the Student protesters when they have attempted to remove the road barricades and march towards the Presidential Secretariet it has been reported .
Due to the protest march heavy traffic had been reported from Colombo Fort area and surrounding areas as Police have closed the Lotus Road from Galle Face entry.
The protest march which began from Colombo Fort Railway station has demanded to abolish the private Universities Act .
After firing Tear gas and water cannons student protesters who had gathered nearby the Presidential Secretariet were dispersed .

Three Members Of The Thowheed Jamaath Organization Had Been Arrested In Ampara

Unit of the Ampara Police have today (06)arrested three activists of the Banned extremist group National Thowheed Jamaath Organization who are members of another banned group Jamaathei Millathe Ibrahim at Ampara.
Both suspects have received an Arms training with Chief Easter sunday Bomb Attacks suspect Mohommad Zahran at Nuwara Eliya and Hambanthota training camps it has been revealed.
The suspects who are residents of Mawanella and Gelioya areas had been arrested following the information provided by a student attached to South Eastern University who was arrested by the police earlier.
Around six suspects attached to National Thowheed Jamaath Organization had been arrested by the Ampara Police during last few days .
