Two Females Arrested In A Brothal House Maintained On The Pretext Of A "SPA"

Police Officers attached to Anti Corruption Unit of the Mount Lavinia Police have yesterday
(16) arrested two female sex workers attached to a Brothel House in Mount Lavinia maintaining on the pretext of an Ayurveda Massage Center (SPA) secretly according to the Police.

The arrested females who are 33 and 45 year old residents of Radawadunna and Padaviya areas are due to be produced before the Mount Lvinia Magistrate Court.

Nearly 50 Acres Of VLand Belonging To Valalpaluwa Reserve Had Been Destroyed

Nearly 50 acres of Land around  nearly 200 hectare  Valpaluwa reserve in Mahakumbukkadawala ,Puttalam
had been destroyed due to a sudden fire erupted in this morning (17) according to reports .

Sri Lanka Army and Navy Personal have doused the fire before spreading it further after being informed by Disaster Management Unit .

The fire was erupted as a group of persons had lit the fire to nearby paddy field it ha been revealed.

Due to the fire several crops in nearby lands including cashew nuts  had been destroyed and birds and peacock eggs also destroyed it has been reported .

Health Minister To Propose Government To Increase "Special Arrack " Price

Health Minister Dr.Rajitah Senaratne has today (17) said that he will proposed the Government to increase the price of Local Liqour variety Special Arrack known as "Gal Arakku" in view of protecting the people from non communicable diseases .


Through the 2019-Annual Budget prices of all liquor products including Beer and Wine as well as cigarettes ,Tobacco and Beedi had been increased except "Special Arrack" which mostly used by village people .

Whilst thanking Minister Of Finance Mangala Samaraweera for increasing the prices of Liquor and Tobacco products through the budget  Minister has stressed that the price of Special Arrack too should be increased to protect people .

Eight Persons Had Been Injured Due To A Road Accident In Vavuniya

Eight Persons had been injured Three of them critically and hospitalized  after the Van they
were travelling in veering off the road and crashed into a Palm Tree nearby at Thandikulam area in Vavunaiy this morning (17).

The injured who are residents of Chilaw area had been admitted to Vavuniya District Hospital for treatment .

The incident occurred when the group of persons had visited Jaffna and on the way home it has been revealed.

Vavuniya Police are conducting an investigations over the incident.

Education Ministry Is Planning To Make Health Studies As A Compulsory Subject For G.C.E O/Level Examination -Health Minister

To educate School Children more on Non Communicable Diseases Education Ministry is planning to make Health Studies as a compulsory subject for G.C.E O/Level examination accordance to a request made by Health Ministry with  effect from 2022 according to Health Minister Dr.Rajitah Senaratne.

National Education Institute is currently preparing to announce this soon Minister has stressed during a Press Briefing held at Government Information Department in Narahenpita today (17).
