Continuous Islandwide Police Raids To Eliminate Illicit Liqour From The Country

Continuous  police  raids are due to be
carried out islandwide until 30th of April to eliminate illicit liquor trade from the country under the instructions of Inspector General Of Police Pujith Jayasundara according to Police Media Spokesman Superintendent of Police Ruwan Gunasekara .


Accordingly those Police officers who are neglecting their duties by not taking any action against illicit liquor selling places  will be severely punished Police Media Spokesman Gunasekare has stressed.

Police have provided hotlines for the public to inform on Illicit liquor selling places and those numbers are  0113024820/48/50  Police Media Spokesman has revealed.

Those who are arrested during the raids will not be granted bail until producing them before the courts SP Gunasekara has stressed.

CID Police Segeant Had Been Arrested Whilst Accepting Rs.80,000 As A Bribe

Bribary Commission officials have
today (07)arrested a Police sergeant attached to Criminal Investigations Department (CID) whilst accepting Rs.80,000 as a bribe from a Businessman  at Gonawela,Kelaniya .

The suspected Sergeant had earlier  accepted Rs.20,000 out of the Rs.100,000 bribe he had requested from the Businessman for  not taking a legal action against a financial fraud involved by the Businessman it has been revealed.

The Businessman who had given the bribe is attached to a large scale buying and selling business according to Reports.

A legal action is due to be taken against the Suspected Police Sergeant.
