Jaffna University Students Union Had Hoisted Black Flags At University Premises On National Independence Day


Image result for jaffna universityUniversity Students attached to the Students Union of the Jaffna  University have today (04) hoisted Black flags at the University premises  instead of Country's National Lion Flag  under the theme "Black Independence Day "on Sri Lankan's 71st National Independence Day  it has been reported. .


The University Students Union Members had also displayed Black colored posters at University premises whilst displaying   Black cloths around the University premises  according to reports.

Sri Lanka Celebrates 71st Independence Day Today (04)- National Ceremony Was Held In Galle Face Green



Sri Lanka Today (04) celebrates the 71st Independence day .The National Ceremony to mark this event  has been held at the Galle Face Green this morning (04) under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wwikramasinghe .

Before the Ceremony religious observances held at Religious places in  Colombo this morning .

Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohommad Sohail who had arrived in Sri Lanka with his wife yesterday (03) had also participated the ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony President Maithripala Sirisena who  made a political speech has stated that he is apposing  the proposed concept of forming  a National Government to run the country,He has also said that the reason behind the proposed National Government concept is none other than  to increase the number of Cabinet members."People expect a 25 member cabinet .I oppose forming of a National Government with a Party which has a single MP in the Parliament .

"As political leaders we have not able to develop our economy" President has said .

Foreign Ambassadors, Parliamentarians and religious clergy have also attended the ceremony .However former President Chandrika Bandaranailke Kumarathunge and MP Field marshal Sarath Fonseka have not participated the event .

A 22 Year Old Motorcyclist Was Killed Due To A Road Accident

A 22 year old Motorcyclist  had been killed  and the pillion rider was injured and hospitalized 
after the high speed  Motorcycle they were  riding in colliding with a Lamp post on Madirigiriya-Diyasenpura main road this morning (04) whilst travelling from Diiyasenpura to Madirigiriya .

The condition of the injured Pillion Rider who was hospitalized after the incident is not serious it has been revealed.

The incident occurred due to the inability of the Motorcyclist to control the speed of the Motorcycle according to reports.

The deceased was identified as a resident of Wijepura area.
