Five Slovakians Arrested With Endangered Species Of Sinharaja Forest In Possession Had Been Remanded
Five Slovakian Nationals who had been arrested by Forest Conservation Officers whilst attempting to smuggle thousands of varieties of endangered species and Tree parts from Sinharaja Forest reserve yesterday (02)had been remanded until 06th of February by the Ratnapura Additional Magistrate today .
The five suspects had been produced before the Ratnapura Additional Magistrate today
Acting Magistrate has also ordered the authorities to check the lodge near Sinharaja Forest where the suspects had stayed in whether there are any endangered animal species and Tree parts stored there .A search warrant had been issued in this regard.
Magistrate had also ordered the authorities to release the endangered live species taken in to custody in possession of five Slovakian back to Sinharaja Forest .She has also ordered to get a report regarding a body of an unidentified Animal found among dead species taken in to custody in possession of the suspects from the Zoological Department at Dehiwala zoo..
