Newly Constructed Sabaragamuwa Medical Faculty Has Been Inaugurated
The newly constructed Medical Faculty
attached to Sabaragamuwa University has been inaugurated by Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe and Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne this Morning (17) amidst protests launched by a group of Students attached to Sabaragamuwa University .
After inaugurating the new Medical Faculty located at Kuruwita area Prime minister Wikramasinghe and Health Minister had participated the ceremony held at Ratnapura General Hospital to mark promoting the Hospital as a Teaching Hospital to facilitate the clinical training of Sabaragamuwa Medical students .
A Group of Savaraganuwa University Students had protested against Politicians inaugurating the Medical faculty.

A Fire Had Destroyed A Large Amount Of Land At A Forest In Thalawakale
More than acre of land belonging to a
forest area atttached to a Tea Estate in Thalawakale had been destroyed due to a sudden fire erupted there this morning (17) it has been reported.
As a result of the hot temperatures and strong wind prevails in Central hills areas at present the fire has spreads rapidly in a large area of land according to Thalawakale Police .
The fire had been controlled before spreading it further by Army personal ,Police officers at Thalawakale ,Special Police Task Force Personal along with Tea Estate Workers .
Police believed an individual or a group of persons might have lit the fire .

Four Persons Arrested With 100 Kilo Grammes Of Chemical Used To Make Explosives And Other Equipment
Police officers attached to Criminal
Investigations Department (CID) have arrested four persons with around 100 Kilo Grammes of Chemical used to produce Explosives ,100 Deternators and other equipment buried at a Coconut Cultivation land of around 80 acres in Lactowatta area ,Mangala pura, Wanathawilluwa this evening (17)during a search operation carried out there .
Among the other equipment recovered at the land are a 12 Bore Rifel and am munitions, An Air rifle, Nitrate Acid banned in Sri Lanka it has been revealed .
The variety of the Chemical recovered has not yet been identified.
The four suspects along with the Explosives and equipment had been recovered whilst CID Officers had launched a search operation to arrest a person related to breaking Buddha Statues in some parts of the country it has been revealed .
