A Russian National Has Drowned Whilst Bathing In Hikkaduwa Sea Area

A 48 year old Russian National has

drowned and disappeared whilst bathing in the sea area behind the hotel he has stayed in near Hikkaduwa Town (Southern Province ) last night (06).

The body of the Russian National had been later recovered and sent it to Balapitiya Hospital for a post mortum.

Hikkaduwa Police are conducting an investigations over the incident.

A Person Was Arrested With A Haul Of Heroin At Kotahena

Kotahana Police have arrested a 40

year old person whilst transporting 1.564 Kilo Grammes of Heroin in a Three Wheeler near the Kotahena Community Center at Kotahana yesterday (06).

The estimated value of the haul of Heroin taken in to custody in possession of the suspect is around Rs.12 million it has been revealed

The suspect who is a resident of Colombo -12 is due to be produced before Maligakanda Magistrate Court .

New Governors Of Three Provinces Had Been Sworn In Before President

Newly appointed Governors of Three

Provinces ,North ,Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces had been sworn in Before President Maithripala Sirisena at President's Office in Colombo this morning (07).

Accordingly Suresh Ragawan had been sworn in as Governor of Northern Province, Dr.Dharma Dissanayake as Governor of Sabaragamuwa Province and Rajitha Keearthi Ekanayska as Governor of Uva Province .

The Governor of Southern Province had not yet been apppunted .

President has last week appointed five new Governors today five Provinces namely Western ,Central ,North Western ,North Central and Eastern Provinces and they have sworn in before President last week .

Previous Governors of nine Provinces had resigned from their posts as per the request of President.
