Gas Companies Have Requested To Increase The Price Of Gas

Local Gas Companies have requested the Consumer Affairs Authority to increase the Price of a Domestic Gas Cylinder by Rs.359  due to the rising prices of Gas in the World Market and the devalue of Rupee in  large scale against the US Dollar it has been revealed .

According to the Local Gas Companies the price of a Metric Tonne of Gas in the world market has been increased by US Dollars 595 during last October and November and as a result Gas prices should be increased .

If the Price of a Domestic Gas Cylinder is  increased by Rs.395 as requested by Local Gas Companies the current price of a 12.5 Kilo Gramme Domestic Gas Cylinder will be increased from Rs.1733 to Rs.2092 .

However the Consumer Affairs Authority still not yet consider the request of  Gas Companies.

A Person Was Arrested With 101.386 Grammes Of Heroin In His Possession

Police Officers attached to the Anti Corruption Unit of Kalutara Division have arrested a 39
year old person whilst carrying 101.386 grammes of Heroin hidden inside his underwear near Maggona Railway station last night (04).


The estimated value of the Haul of Heroin taken in to custody in possession of the suspect is more than  Rs.1.2 million it has been revealed.

The suspect is a resident of Kithulhena at Maggona Area.

An Elderly Person Had Committed Suicide By Jumping In Front Of A Train

A Person around 65 years old had committed suicide by jumping in front of  a Express Train
"Uttara Devi" travelling from Colombo Fort to Kankasanthurai near Anuradhapura New Bus Stand at Anuradhapura last evening(04) according to Anuradhapura Police.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been revealed and the body had been sent to the Anuradhapura Hospital Mortuary .

The cause behind the suicide has also not yet been revealed.

Two Somalian Nationals Had Been Arrested Whilst Attempting To Flying To Sweden With Fraudulant Visas

Officers attached to Criminal
Investigations Department  (CID) in Katunayaka have arrested two Somalian Nationals  of the ages 19 and 22 year old whilst attempting to flying to Sweden through New Delhi, India by using Fraudulent visas at Katunayake, Bandaranaike International Airport yesterday (04).

One suspect has attempted to flying to Sweden through fraudulant visas and other one had assisted him according to CID Officers .

The two suspects are being due to be produced before Negambo Magistrate Court .
