Two Teenagers Have Drowned Whlist Bathing In Sea

Two teenagers have  died after
drowning in sea area of Habakkala in Kosgoda (Southern Province ) whilst bathing in the sea last evening  (01) it has been reported .

The body of the 19 year old boy has  found last night(01) and the body of the 14 year old found this morning  (02)during a joint search operation carried out by Navy divers and villagers in the area .

The Two deceased were residents of Elpitiya in KaranDeniya area .

A 29 Year Old British National Has Died After Falling In To A Water Hole At Laxapana Water Falls

A 29 year old British National has died after falling in to an unprotected water hole located at downstream of Laxapana Water Falls in Norton-Bridge whilst bathing there with few of his foreign friends last noon (01).

The body of the Deceased who had stayed at a Tourist Lodge in Norton Bridge area had recovered later and sent to DiKoya Base Hospital for the post mortem .


Newly Appointed Navy Commander Assumed Duties In His Post

The Newly appointed Navy
Commander Rear Admiral Piyal De Silva has assumed duties in his post at Navy Headquarters, Colombo yesterday  (01).

The farewell ceremony of the outgoing Navy Commander Admiral Sirimewan Ranasinghe too held  at the same time and the out going Navy Commander had left his post after handing over a sword which is the symbol of Navy Commander post ,to the new Navy Commander Vice Admiral Piyal De Silva.

Amidst religious blessings the New Navy Commander has assumed his duties afterwards  .

Rear Admiral De Silva who was the former Navy Chief of Staff has been appointed as the New Navy Commander last Monday  (31)by the President Maithripala Sirisena .

Court Had Given Permission To Police To Question Two Bangladeshi Nationals Arrested With Narcotics Under Detention Orders

Mount Lavinia Magistrate Court has
yesterday   (01)given the Police permission to question two Bangladeshi men who had  been arrested with 278 Kilo Grammes of Heroin and 5 Kilo Grammes of Cocaine in possession last Monday (31) by keeping them under detention orders for seven days.

Police Anti Narcotic Bureau officials have arrested the Two Bangladeshi Nationals stayed at a house in Dehiwala -Kawudana Road with the haul of narcotics believes to be the largest ever recovered .

The estimated value of the haul of narcotics taken know to custody in possession of the suspects is more than Rs.3500 million .
