Three Professors Filed A Petition Against Former Chief Justice Sarath, N.Silva Over Contempt Of Court Charges
Three Professors have today (14)filed a
petition against Former Chief Justice Sarath N..Silva in Supreme Court over the contempt of Court charges .
The Petitioners Senior Professor Prashantha Gunawardana, Senior Professor Chandragupta Thenuwara and Professor Hewawaduge Cyril had stated in their petition ,The former Chief Justice Silva had make statements defaming Supreme Court on 18th of October and 03 Rd of December over a matter pending in the court.
Petitioners have requested the Court to conduct a full inquiry on these statements and impose a suitable punishment against the former Chief Justice .

"Sathyagraha " campaign launched by
Civil Organization and Trade Unions Collective at Viharamahadevi Park in Town Hall against the Constitutional coup and to protect " Democracy and Constitution " has been concluded this evening (14) .
The "Sathyagraha " campaign has been concluded following the Supreme Court's decision declaring the Gazette Notification issued by President Maithripala Sirisena not in accordance to Constitution.
Several Parliamentarians and Religious leaders had participated at the occasion this evening .

Suspended Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakshe To Resign From His Post Tomorrow (15)
Former President Mahinda Rajapakshe who has not received the majority of Support in Parliament to function as
Prime Mimister has decided to resign from premiership after adreesing the nation tomorrow (15)according to United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP's Lakshman Yapa Abeywardana and Namal Rajapakshe.
MP Namal Rajapakshe has stressed through a Twitter message posted this evening (14) that Former President Rajapakshe has make this decision after considering the stability of the nation.
Meanwhile a meeting was held between President Maithripala Sirisena and Former Premier Mahinda Rajaoakshe this evening at Presidential Secretariet it has been revealed.
During yesterday's meeting between the two and MP's of United People's Freedom Alliance, President has stated a new government. Will be formed on this Monday .

Three Member Supreme Court Judge Panel Has Refused To Grant A Stay Order Against The Interim Order Suspending MP Mahinda Rajapakshe Functioning As Premier
Three Member Supreme Court Judge
Panel has today (14) refused to grant a stay order as requested by Former President Mahinda Rajapakshe removing the interim order issued by Court of Appeal to suspend functioning of Former President Rajapakshe as premier and his 49 Minsters in their posts .
The Three member Judge Panel Comprising of Eva Wanasundara ,Buwaneka Aluvihare and Vijitha .S. Malalgoda had also ordered the Court of Appeal to temporarily suspend the hearing of A petition filed against appointment of former President Mahinda Rajapakshe as premier until the conclusion of hearing the appeales petition filed against it by Former President Rajapakshe.
The three member Judge Panel has also fixed three dates 16th,17th and 18th of January to hear the appeals petition of former President.
Earlier Supreme Court Judge Panel has refused the motion filed by United National Party yesterday (13)requesting to appoint five member Judge Panel to hear the case against Petition today . The Judge Panel has also informed the Petitioners to make a request from Chief Justice If they want to hear the Petition before a five member Judge Panel.
Meanwhile Justice Eva Wanasundara who was in.the three Member Judge Panel heard the appeals petition today has retired today (14)after 40 years of service.
