Three Member Supreme Court Judge Panel Has Refused To Grant A Stay Order Against The Interim Order Suspending MP Mahinda Rajapakshe Functioning As Premier

Three Member Supreme Court Judge
Panel has today (14) refused to grant a stay order as requested by Former President Mahinda Rajapakshe  removing the interim order issued by Court of Appeal to suspend functioning of  Former President Rajapakshe as premier  and his 49 Minsters in their posts .

The Three member Judge Panel Comprising of Eva Wanasundara ,Buwaneka Aluvihare and Vijitha .S. Malalgoda had also ordered the Court of Appeal to temporarily suspend the hearing of A petition filed against appointment of former President Mahinda Rajapakshe as premier until the conclusion of hearing the appeales petition filed against it by Former President Rajapakshe.

The three member Judge Panel has also fixed three dates 16th,17th and 18th of January to hear the appeals petition of former President.

Earlier Supreme Court Judge Panel has refused the motion filed by United National Party yesterday (13)requesting to appoint five member Judge Panel to hear the case against Petition today . The Judge Panel has also informed the Petitioners to make a request from Chief Justice If they want to hear the Petition before a five member Judge Panel.

Meanwhile Justice Eva Wanasundara who was in.the three Member Judge Panel heard the appeals petition today  has retired today (14)after 40 years of service. 

A Person Was Killed And Two Others Injured Due To Train -Lorry Collision

A Person Was Killed and two others had
been critically injured and hospitalized after the Lorry they were travelling in colliding with a Train Travelling from Kankasanthurai to Colombo today (14) at a Railway crossing in Maddegzma ,Kurunagala.

The two critically injured persons had been admitted to Kurunagala Teaching Hospital for treatment.

The Lorry was transporting Ayurveda medicine at the time of the incident and the gate keeper was not there at the Railway crossing that time it has been revealed .

Wellawa Police have conducting an investigations over the incident.

A Fire Erupted In Walamalai Reserve Had Been Controlled

A Sudden fire erupted on top of the hill
of the Walamalai Natural Reserve in Laxapana ,Nallathanniya area  last wednesday (12) evening had been controlled with the help of a MI-17 Helicopter belonging to Sri Lanka Airforce it has been reported.

Around 3 acres of land belongs to the natural reserve had been destroyed due to the fire which Police believes as lit by a person in the area .

The MI-17 Helicopter of the Sri Lanka Airforce had controlled the spreading of the fire by using water taken from Maussakale Reservoir.
