A Motion Submitted To Parliament (12)To Show Support Of The MP 's To UNP Leader Had Been Passed

A motion submitted to Parliament
today (12)to show confidemce towards United National Party (UNP) leader Ranil Wikramasinghe as Prime Minister has been passed by a majority of 117 votes .

The motion had been submitted to the Parliament by Deputy Leader of UNP Sajith Premadasa and confirmed by MP Mangala Samaraweera .

The motion had been debated and later during the voting 117 MP's including MP"s of UNP and Tamil National Alliance (TNA) voted in favour and no one voted against it.

After the conclusion of voting ,UNP Leader Wikramasinghe has thanked all MP's whow had voted in support of him and thanked the Speaker for acting Democratically in Parliament by taking lead .

Everyone should respect the Constitution as it's the major  law of the country he has stressed .

United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP's have boycotted today's parliamentary sessions which begun under the patronage of Speaker Karu Jayasuriya at 1 p.m..

After the passing of the motion, Speaker Jayasuriya Had adjourned the Parliament until 1 p.m. on 20 th of December .

A Female Filed A Petition At Court Of Appeal Against UNP Leader Ranil Wikramasinghe Holding A MP Post

"Women towards Justice " Shermila Gonawala has yesterday (11)filed a petition at Court of Appeal requesting to issue a Writ order to abolish the MP Post of United National Party (UNP) leader Ranil Wikramasinghe as he is  holding shares of Lake house Group of Companies .

According to the Petitioner no one can hold a MP Post whilst involving in Business activities according to the constituton and Constitutionally elected Premier Wikramasinghe is a shareholder of Lake House Group of Companies. According to the Constitution he is disqualified for holding MP Post and petitioner had requested the court to issue an interim order preventing UNP Leader Wikramasinghe from sitting at the Parliament and voting until the conclusion of hearing the petition.

Four persons including UNP Leader Ranil Wikramasinghe ,UNP Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam Parliament Secretary had been named as respondents of the petition .
