Speaker Met IGP For A Discussion

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya Had met the
Inspector General Of Police (IGP)Pujith Jayasundara this evening  (31)at the Parliamentary complex and discussed on the security situation of the country according to sources.

Speaker has invited the IGP to the Parliamentary  complex for the discussion and before going there IGP Has met newly appointed Premier Mahinda Rajapakshe and informed him on the meeting it has been revealed.


National Police Commission Has Suspended Transfers Of 53 Police Officers Ordered By IGP Without Commission's Approval

National Police Commission has today
(31)suspended the transfers  of 53 Assistant Superintendent of Police(ASP) and Superintendents of Police (SP)ordered by Inspector General Of Police (IGP)Pujith Jayasundara without getting pror approval of the Commission.

These transfers are scheduled to be implemented with effect from tomorrow (01) for a month period on temporary basis it has been revealed.

IGP Jayasundara had submitted the list of transfered ASP's and SP's to the Police Commission after ordered the transfers it has been revealed.

Speaker Expressed Confidence To Foreign Ambassadors On Finding A Solotion For The Current Crisis According To Constitution

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya Had today
(31)expressed his confidence to  four Foreign Ambassadors and the permanant representative of the United Nations in Sri Lanka Hana Singer that a solution for the current political crisis can be found democratically according to the Constitution .

The Speaker had made this remark during a meeting held with United Nations permanant representative to Sri Lanka Hana Singer,and Ambassadors of Britain ,European Union ,Canada and Germany at the Parliamentary complex in Colombo this evening .

During the meeting the Foreign representatives had sympathised the Constitutional crisis occurred in Sri Lanka at present and say the country will face unfavorable consequences as a result .

Speaker had requested the Foreign delegates not to take any immediate action at state level against Sri Lanka due to the current crisis.

Group Of University Students Marched Towards University Grants Commission Building And Broken The Gates

A Group of University Students
attached to South Eastern and Rajarata Universities who had marched towards University Grants Commission  (UGC)in Ward Place from Colombo Fort this evening (31)have broken the locks of UGC Gate and entered into premises forcibly it has been reported.

The group of students launched the protest march by demanding solutions for their academic problems in two universities had protested Infront of UGC and left the premises without funding any solution.

Security around UGC Building has tightened as a result of the Protest.

Lotus Road and Ward Place had been closed for hours due to the Protest march and heavy traffic had been reported in roads upto town hall as a result.
