A Person Was Arrested Over Selling Medicine For Higher Prices

Welimada Police have arrested a 21

year old person last week over selling painkiller tablets and tablets prescribed for Psychiatric illnesses at a Pharmacy in Welimada area.

Police have also taken in to custody around 1000 medicinal tablets stored in the Pharmacy by the suspect,  to be sold for higher prices and arrested another person at the pharmacy who had hidden tablets inside his mouth it has been revealed.

The suspects are due to produce before the court .

Kantale MOH Had Been Arrested And Remanded Over Working Under Liquor Influence

Kantale Police have last friday
(19)arrested the Kantale MOH (Medical Officer Of Health)over working at office under the  influence of liquor .

The suspected MOH who had been reported as drinking heavily during duty hours daily, had been remanded by Kanthale Magistrate Court after being produced before the court. 

When Police have arrested the suspect as per the complaint made by his wife stating he has harassed her ,  he was under  liquor influence and he had used obscene language to blame Police officers .

On Friday the suspect had sent Patients  who had arrived in MOH Office to get medicine back home  it has been revealed.

Ministry of Health and other authorities have turn blind eye when complaints made against him by the workers of the Kantale MOH Office sources said.

Another Tragedy -Two Wild Elephants Had Been Killed And Another Wild Elephant Critically Injured Due To Colliding With Two Trains

In another Tragedy occurred due to
Elrphant-Human conflict ,Two Wild Elephants had been killed and another Elephant had been critically injured after colliding with Two Trains last night (20) while crossing the rail track at Elephant crossings in Galoya and Galgamuwa areas.

A Wild Elephant was killed and another Wild Elephant had been critically injured after colliding with the night mail Train travelling from Colombo to Kankasanthurai area between Ambanpola and Galgamuwa  Train stations it has been reported. The critically injured Wild Elephant is lying down near the Railway track according to Main Railway Control Room.

The train services in Northern Railway line are functioning as usual the Control room has said.

In another incident A Wild Elephant was killed after colliding with a Train travelling from Colombo to Batticaloa ,Between Galoya and Palugaswewa  crossing the Rail Track according to reports .A Herd of Elephants had collided with the Train and as a result the Train was derailed .

Another Train travelling to Trincomalee had been stopped at Kekirawa Railway station due to the derailment of the Train as a result of colliding with Herd of Elephants the Railway Control Room has said.

Several Wild Elephants had been killed after colliding with Trains at Elephant crossings  during last few months of this year due to the negligence of Engine Drivers. The Engine Drivers not even able to limit the speed of the trains near Elephant Crossings and as a result Wild Elephants are being killed by colliding with Trains.

Although the Ministry of Transport had appointed a committee to look in to the ways of limiting Elephant -Train collisions and the Committee has recommemded five recommendations in this regard,Authorities are still delaying implementing the recommendations sources have said.

UN Has Requested Sri Lanka To Remove Sri Lankan Commander Of UN Peace Keeping Force In Mali

United Nations had requested Sri
Lankan Government to remove the Commander of the Sri Lankan Army team attached to United Nations Peace Keeping Force in State Of Mali in Africa Lieutenant Colnel Kalana Amunupura  siting allegations levelled against him on violating human rights .

The Spokesman of the United Nations Secretary General Stephan Dujark has said yesterday that Sri Lankan government should have removed the Colonel Amunupura from the UN Peace Keeping Force in Mali and recruit another Army officer as  a replacement.

However he has not given an exact  reason behind the request of removing colonel Amunupura.

Meanwhile Sri Lanka Army has said although Sri Lanka will remove the Colonel Amunupura from Peace Keeping force as requested by UN he will be sent again to Mali after proving his innocence against the human rights violation charges levelled against him.
