A Police Constable Has Died After His Motorcycle Colliding With A Wild Elephant

A 32 year old Police Constable attached
to the Modara Police Station has died after the Motorcycle he was riding in colliding with a Wild Elephant on last Tuesday (16)near the Gnanakkulam Bridge at Kandy-Jaffna A-9 Road .

The critically injured Police Constable who waa travelling from his Motorcycle from Anuradhapura to Kekirawa  when colliding with a Wild Elephant crossing   the road, had succumbed to his injuries after admission to Maradankadawala Hospital.

The Deceased was a resident of Ula galla,Thirappane area.

Colombo High Court Had Sentenced A Former Accupuncture Doctor A Two Year Rigorous Imprisonment Over Sexually Assaulting A Female Patient

JanakI Rajarathna  has yesterday (17)sentenced a former Doctor attached to the Accupuncture Center of Kalubowila(South Colombo ) Teaching Hospital D.P Jayaratne a two year rigorous imprisonment suspended for 25 years over sexually assaulting of a female who came to receive Acupuncture Treatment to the center.

The incident had taken place on 07th of May or a near by date in 2006.

The former Accupuncture Doctor D.P. Jayaratne had been sentenced to two year rigorous imprisonment after he had accepted charges against him through his lawyer .

The Accused doctor was ordered to payRs.200,000 as compansation to the victim and a fine of Rs.25,000. Imposed on him by the Judge.

Attorney General Had Filed indictments at Court against the former Accupuncture doctor.

National Police Commission Has Interdicted DIG Nalaka De Silva Yesterday

National Police Commission has
interdicted the Deputy Inspector General Of Police (DIG)Nalaka De Silva last afternoon (16)as per the recommendation of Law and Order Minister Ranjith Madduma Bandara.

DIG Nalaka De Silva who is charged over conspiring to assasinate President Maithripala Sirisena and former Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapakshe by the working director of Anti Corruption Force Namal Kumara, has avoided   appear before the Criminal Investigations Department (CID)to give a statement regarding the charges.

The recommendation of the interdiction of DIG Nalaka De Silva had been sent to the National Police Commission by the secretary of Ministry of Law and Order Padmasiri Jayamanna.

Earlier DIG  had been sent on compulsory leave by the National Police Commission as per the instructions of Law and Order Minister. 

Cabinet Spokesman Has Denied Reports Published That There Was A Cabinet Paper Submitted To The CABINET On Handing Over Eastern Port Terminal To India

Co-Cabinet Spokesman ,Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has  denied that there was a Cabinet Paper submitted to the Cabinet by Minister of Port  and Shipping Mahinda Samarisinghe to handover the Eastern Terminal of Colombo Harbor to India on lease .

There was no such Cabinet Paper submitted to the Cabinet in this regard so far Dr.Senaratne has said during the Cabinet briefing held at Government Information Department today (17).

However some reports appeared in media have  stated today that there was a Cabinet Paper submitted regarding handing over of the Eastern terminal attached to Colombo Harbor to India on lease and President has strongly opposed to it during the Cabinet meeting held last night (16).

President has also indicated the importance of maintaining Eastern Terminal of Colombo Harbor under Sri Lanka  Ports Authority during the meeting the reports have said.
