A Youth Was Kiled And A School Girl had Been Injured Due To A Lorry -Tipper Collision

A 21 year old youth was killed and a 15

year old school girl had been injured and hospitalized after the small Lorry they were travelling in colliding with a Tipper Truck at Duwamodara area in Kosgoda this noon (13) .

The injured had been admitted to the Balapitiya Hospital and the youth had succumbed to his injuries after transferring to Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.

The deceased youth was a resident of Elpitiya area and the injured school girl Is a resident of Balapitiya area.

Police are conducting an investigations over the incident. 

A Body Of A Wild Elephant Had Recovered Near A Hindu Temple

A body of a Wild Elephant had been
recovered near the "Gana Devi "Hindu Temple at Shanthimale area in Kokkadicholai In Batticaloa last night (12)by the villagers.

Wild Life officers attached to Wellaweli Wild Life Office had arrived at the scene as per the information provided by the villagers .The Wild Life officers are conducting an investigations over the incident. 

Hatton -Bagawanthalawa Road Had Been Closed Due To A Sunken Area

Hatton -Bagawanthalawa main road
had been closed down for traffic today (13)as a result of a part of the road had sunk from newweligama area in Norwood  it has been reported.

Due to the sunken area a Landslide threat has occurred according to sources.

Police have advised the Motorists to use an alternative routes when travelling.

Meanwhile the National Building Research Organization (NBRO)had evacuated residents of five houses in the area and moved them to safe place due to the Landslide threat .

A 8 Year Old Wild Elephant Calf Fallen In To A Well Had Been Rescued

Wild Life officers attached to
Welikanda Wild Life office in polonnaruwa have rescued a 8 year old Elephant Calf who had fallen to a small  Well at Kalingawila Village in Welikanda area early this morning (13)after a one and half hour mission.

The Rescued Elephant calf had later released to the Aselapura reserve.

The villagers of Kalingawila had informed on the Elephant calf to the Wild Life officers after heard his screem.As per the information a group of Wild Life officers arrived in the scene had taken out the Elephant calf from the well by cutting the bund of the well with the assistance of villagers and Civil Defense Force .

Training Period Of PHI's Has Been Extended From Six Months

Ministry Of Health has extended the
training period of Public Health Inspectors(PHI's) by six months ,from One and half years to Two years .

The Circular regarding extending the training period of Public Health Inspectors  (PHI's) has been issued at a Diploma Presenting Ceremony of 630 newly trained PHI's held at Hotel Galadari recently .

Addressing at the event Health Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne has said that all Health Categories currently receives Diploma courses will be entitled to Graduate programmes shortly .
