Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC) Has Also Increased The Petrol And Diesel Prices

Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC)has
increased the prices of Petrol and Diesel in their filling stations with effect from midnight last night (10)coincided with the price increase implemented by the  government owned  Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) as per the new Price formula.

Accordingly the new price of a Liter of Octane 92 Petrol will be Rs.155 ,A Liter of Octane-95 Petrol will be Rs.172 ,A Liter of Super Diesel Rs.141 and a Liter of Auto Diesel.Rs.129 .

However Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has not increased the price of Auto Diesel although it should be increaed by Rs.11 per a Liter according to the new price formula,Due to it's effect to the local Transport industry .

Meanwhile Three Wheeler Unions are currently discussing on to increase the Three Wheeler fares due to the fuel.price hike.

A Female Tea Plucker Has Died After Falling Down A Precipice

A 56 year old female Tea Plucker has
died after falling down a precipice whilest plucking tea leaves at Gardmore Tea Estate in Maskeliya area last morning  (10).

The female Tea Plucker had fallen down after slipping down it has been revealed.

The deceased was a resident of a line room at the Tea Estate.

A Person Was Killed Due To A Three Wheeler-Lorry Collision

A 49 year old Three Wheeler Driver
was killed and another person has been injured and hospitalized after the Three Wheeler they were travelling in veering off the road and colliding  with a Lorry at Horagolla,Nittambuwa on Kandy, -Colombo main road today (10).

The two injured persons have been admitted to the Wathupitiwala Hospital where the Three wheeler Driver had succumbed to his injuries .

Nittambuwa Police have arrested the Lorry driver regarding the accident. 

A Section Of The Road Near Chitra Lane Junction On Narahenpita-Kirula Road Had Sunk

A section of the road near Chitra Lane junction on Narahenpita -Kirula road had sunk this evening (10)as a result of the Adverse weather it has been reported.

A Van travelled on the road at the time of the sinking had sunk as well,However no casualties have been reported due to this .

As a result of the sinking ,Transport activities of the road had come to a stand -still .

Wild Life And Railways Departments To Re- Mark The Elephant Crossings

Wild Life Department and the Railways Department have jointly launched a programme on re marking the Elephant crossings across Railway tracks in the Island to prevent Wild Elephants from colliding with Trains in future it has been reported.

A Team comprising of  officials attached to Wild Life Department and Railways Department is due to begin re marking Elephant crossings from tonight it has been revealed.
