Four Persons Have Been Injured Due To A Soil Mound Collapse

Four Persons Have been injured and
hospitalized after a Soil Mound has collapsed on to their houses at Udowita in Naboda, Kalutara in the  wee hours of this morning (07).

The injured including three females  (With a six year old small girl)and a male belonging to a same family  have been admitted to the Horana Base Hospital for treatment after rescued while trapped inside of a House by the villagers .Another resident of the house was escaped unharm.

Three houses have been  damaged two severely  due to the incident. 

Many Sub Roads In Colombo-Kalutara ,Galle ,Kandy Districts Have Been Inundated -Water Levels Of Few Rivers On The Rise Due To Heavy Showers



Many sub roads in Colombo,Kalutara ,Galle and Kandy Districts have been inundated last evening (06)as a result of 150 Mili Meter heavy showers that have been experienced in the Districts during whole day according to Meteorology Department.

Accordingly sub roads in Piliyandala, Maharagama,Bandaragama,Mathugama,Horana AgalaWatta,Ingiriya WeliPanna,Akurana areas have been inundated and transport activities of these roads have been distrusted heavily it has been reported.

Meanwhile WeliPanna Inter Exchange Entry of the Southern Expressway has been closed for traffic since last evening as the Mathugama-Aluthgama  road is being submerged due to heavy showers.

Motorists are being advised to restrict the speed at Southern Expressway to 60 Kilo meters per hour due to the adverse weather.

Meanwhile the water levels of Kalu River,GIn River and Attanagalu Oya are being on the rise due to 150 Mili Meter rain received yesterday.Accordingly Kalu River from Millakanda area ,GIn River from Baddegama area and Attanagalu Oya from Dunamale area shows minor flood situation the Authorities have announced.

Meteorology Department has said that the 150 Mili Meter continuous rain will be continued in several  Districts today (07)as well due to the low pressure area growing in the atmosphere near Sri Lanka .


Three Wild Elephants Have Been Killed After Colliding With A Train At Welikanda

Three Wild Elephants have been killed
after colliding with an Intercity Express Train travelling from Batticaloa to Colombo at Namalgama between Walikanda and Punawa Railway Stations in  Polonnaruwa last night (06).

Due to the incident around four Compartments of the Intercity Train have been derailed and the Railway line too severely damaged according to authorities.

There's a board indicating that the place where the accident occurred is an Elephant crossing .

Train Drivers are being advised to slow down the train near the Elephant crossings and when there are Elephants seen on the Rail Track ,However some drivers are not following the rules and as a result these incidents happens according to reports.Even when a Herd of five Elephants (With two unborn calfs)collided with a Train near an Elephant Crossing recently the Train drivers who was responsible for the tragic accident have not been punished by the authorities .

Meanwhile due to the incident occurred last night train services at Batticaloa Railway line is being restricted to Polonnaruwa Railways Department has said.
