Two Persons Have Been Critically Injured Due To Lorry-Train Collision At Hikkaduwa Railway Crossing

Two persons have been critically
injured and hospitalized after the Lorry they were travelling in colliding with an Express Train travelling from Matara to Vavuniya this evening (04)at an unprotected Railway crossing in Wewala,Hikkaduwa area.

The two critically injured have been admitted to Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for treatment.

The Lorry which collided with  the Train had dragged away with the Train for few hundred meters ahead and several Telephone posts and assets have been damaged as a result it has been revealed.

The Lorry which  was belonging to a PasYala Ayurveda Company was severely damaged due to the accident according to Hikkaduwa Police.

Residents of the area have requested the authorities to fix an automatic Gates at the Railway crossing to prevent recurrance of this nature in future .

Train Services at Coastal Railway line are being delayed as a result of the incident the Railway Control Room has announced.

President Sirisena To Leave Seachelles For An Official Tour

President Maithripala Sirisena is due to leave for  Seachelles Islands for a Three day official tour on 08th of October the Foreign Ministry in Seachelles has today announced.

During the state visit President Sirisena is due to hold bi lateral talks with Sea chelles leaders on Education, Health ,Fisheries ,Tourism and Ocean Security .

President is visiting Seachelles as per an  invitation made by  Seachelles prime minister.
