Around 300 Families Have Been Evacuated From Their Line Houses Due To A Landslide Threat In Thalawakale

Around 300 families residing in a line house scheme have been evacuated from their houses due to a Landslide threat at a mountain located above their houses at the Grate Westetn Tea Estate in Thalawakale area last night (02) it has been reported.

The evacuated families are being provided with temporary shelter at Sri Muththu Mari Amman Hindu Kovil in the area.

The families have been evacuated after rocks of the mountain begun to fall following the heavy showers prevailing in the area according to reports.

Police officers attached to Thalawakale Police are being deployed in the area to protect the houses of the evacuated families.

Siyambalanduwa Provincial Secretary And His Driver Have Been Injured Due To A Road Accident

and his driver have been injured and hospitalized after the Cab they were travelling in colliding with a Private Bus at Galabadda area in Monaragala last morning (02).

The injured have been admitted to the Siyambalanduwa Base Hospital for treatment.

Siyambalanduwa Police have arrested the Private Bus driver  over an irresponsible driving and the suspect is due to be produced before the Siyambalanduwa Magistrate Court. 

A Person Was Arrested Over The Killing Of A Wild Elephant By Electrocution


Police have arrested a 42 year old fisheries  Technician over the  killing of A Wild Elephant by electrocution at Puwakpitiya ,Habarana area yesterday (02) .

Police have recovered the Body of the deceased Wild Elephant who was around seven and half feet tall and around twenty years old last morning at Puwakpitiya area.

The suspect who is a resident of Puwakpitiya area had illegally built an Electric fence around his house by using Electricity of his house and the Elephant has died after colliding with the fence it has been revealed.

The suspect is due to be produced before the Kekirawa Magistrate Court .

The Female Specialist Doctor Was Under Liquor Influence During the Vehicle Collision Which Killed A Police Inspector

Although Police have said that the
Specialist female doctor attached to Ratnapura General Hospital who was charged over the  killing of a Police Inspector due to irresponsible driving under the influence of Liquor few days ago , Doctors at Kalubowila Teaching Hospital said that there was  no proof that the female doctor was under the influence of liquor at the time of the incident . .

There's no liquor smell came out from her mouth at the time of the Female doctor was tested the Doctors have said.

However Police have confirmed that the suspected female doctor was under the influence of liquor when she was tested by the Police by using Baloon method  soon after the accident.

Police Inspector  attached to the Police Field force Headquarters was killed when the Vehicle he and his family members travelling in colliding with a vehicle driven by the suspected female doctor at Boralesgamuwa .

Police have informed  the Nugegoda Magistrate Court that the female doctor who is a Specialist attached to the Diabetes clinic at Ratnapura District Hispital had drunk liquor with another person earlier that day at a Tourist hotel.She has ordered a local liquor bottle ,A foreign liquor bottle and two beers .

The suspected female doctor was remanded by the Magistrate Court after being produced before the court and currently she is receiving treatment at Kalubowila Teaching Hospital under Police custody .
