CID Had Requested The Minister Of Wild Life Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka To Appear Before CID

Criminal Investigations Department
(CID)has requested the Minister Of Sustainable Development and Wild Life Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka to appear before the CID Headquarters tomorrow (25)at 12 noon to record a statement regarding the abduction and assault of former Journalist attached to Nation paper Keith Noyer .

This is the second time that Field Marshal Fonseka due to give a statement to CID  regarding the incident  .He was the Army Commander at the time of the incident.

CID has already recorded statements from Former President Mahinda Rajapakshe ,Speaker Karu Jayasuriya and several other regsrding the incident.

CID is due to record a statement regarding the incident from former Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapakshe as well in future .

Meanwhile CID had informed the Court on last May that according to the investigations conducted so far Field Marshal Fonseka is not related to the abduction of Keith Noyer.


Transport Activities In Severall Central.Hill Areas Had Been Distrupted Due To Rain And Mist

Transport activities had been disrupted in several areas belonging to Central Hills at present due to heavy showers and Heavy mist prevailing in it has been reported.

Accordingly transport activities in Nuwara Eliya ,Haldummulla,Beragala and Haputale areas had been disrupted due to continuous heavy showers and heavy mist .

Police have instructed the motorists to put on lights of their vehicles while driving along Badulla-Colombo main road due to slippery condition and mist .

Seven Houses Had Been Damaged In Vavuniya Due To Strong Winds

Around seven houses and Banana
cultivations at Pawattanukulam ,Omanthai in Vavuniya had been damaged due to strong winds blown across the area last evening (23).

An ice rain had fallen at Maradankulam area in Vavuniya yesterday assisted with strong winds according to Disaster Management Center.

To prevent the depreciation of Sri
Lankan Rupee further against US Dollar government is considering to restrict some imports to the Country according to Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe.

"To restrict some imports, tariffs should be imposed on those imports and by doing this US dollars million 500-1000 could be saved in the country " Prime Minister has stressed.

Prime Minister has revealed these facts during the inauguration of D.S Senanayakagama Uda Gama at Suriyawewa ,Hambanthota today (24).
