Five Persons Injured Due To Van-Bus Collision

Five Persons had been injured and
hospitalized after the Van they were travelling in colliding with a Private Bus and veering off the road and toppled over  at Ginigathhena-Rampadeniya area on Hatton-Colombo main road this morning (22).

The injured were admitted to the Ginigathhena Provincial Hospital for treatment.

The accident occurred due to the High Speed Private Bus travelling from Hatton to Colombo colliding with the Van travelling from Seeduwa to Nuwara Eliya .There were 11 Passangers In the Bus at the time of the accident .

Ginigathhena Police are conducting an investigations over the incident.

Sri Lankan Airlines To Suspend It's Flights To Hong Kong From 28 th of October

Sri Lankan Airlines have decided to
suspend it's flights to Hong Kong with effect from 28th of October due to  lack of profits .

However the Airlines is due to expand its flights to Melbourne ,Australia and to Singapore with effect from 28th of October and 29 th of October respectively.

Accordingly the number of Sri Lankan Airlines Flights fly to Singapore weekly due to be  increased from 17 to 21.

Three Persons Had Arrested Over Smuggling A Stock Of Valuable Foreign Flower Plants Without A Quarantine Certificate

Airport Customs officers have
yesterday (21)arrested three Persons including two females over attempting to smuggle a stock of valuable flower plants including Anthuriums and Orchids brought from Thailand without obtaining a Quarantine Certificate to Sri Lanka at Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport.

The three suspects  are residents of Kelaniya ,Ja Ela and Matara areas.

They were arrested with a stock of Flowers plants with a value of nearly Rs.500,000 it has been reported.

By bringing the flower plants without a Quarantine Certificate  The suspects had  violated the regulations of fauna and flora act Airport Customs officers said.

Lieutinent Erantha Pieris Arrested Over Abduction And Disappearance Of Former Cartoonist Eknaligoda Has Been Remanded

Army Intelligance Officer Lieutenant

Colonel  Erantha Pieris arrested over Abducting and dissaperance of cartoonist Prageeth Eknaligoda had been remanded until 28 th of September by the Homagama Magistrate Court yesterday  (21).

He was produced before the Court yesterday.

The Ieutinent  was arrested last Thursday evening (20) by the CID officers  after giving a statement regarding the abduction and disappearence of Eknaligoda at CID Headquarters .
