President Sirisena Has Recalled Sri Lankan Ambassador To Austria And Five Senior Embassy Staff Members Over Not Answering His Phone Calls

President Maithripala Sirisena has

today (15)recalled Sri Lankan Ambassador to Austria Ms.Priyani Wije sekare and five senior staff members of the Sri Lankan Embassy in Austrian capital  Vienna over not answering his long distance calls for nearly 12 hours last week.

President Sirisena has recalled the Sri Lankan Ambassador to Austria and five senior staff members of the Embassy via President s Secretary it has been reported.

However although Ministry Of Foreign affairs has confirmed the Presidents decision to recall Sri Lankan Ambassador, The Ministry has not given the reason why the president himself attempted to call Sri Lankan Ambassador to Austria directly without doing so through the Foreign Ministry.

The new Ambassador and staff members to the Sri Lankan Embassy in Vienna will be announced soon the Ministry has stated.

An Indian National Was Arrested With Foreign Liquor In Possession



Police Officers attached to Katunayake Airport have arrested a 34 Year Old Indian National with 11 liters of Foreign Made liquor in his possession illegally at the Katunayake, Bandaranaike International Airport premises today (15).

The suspect who had arrived in from Tamil Nadu ,Southern India was arrested as per an information received by the Police.

The suspected Indian National Was fined with Rs.9000 and released after being produced before Negambo Magistrate Court.

A Kuwaiti Couple Charged Over Assaulting Airport Customs Officers Was Sentenced A Five Year Suspended Prison Sentence

Negambo Magistrate Court has
yesterday  (14)sentenced a couple arrived from Kuwait charged over assaulting Airport Customs officers, five year suspended Prison sentence to be served in six months .

The Kuwaiti Couple was sentenced to the suspended Prison sentence over the charges of obstructing the duties of Customs Officers,Make Customs officers in an inconvenient position and assault them it has been revealed. Court has also imposed a fine of Rs.9000 each on them.

The Kuwaiti Couple was earlier released by the Court on a bail of Rs.150,000 after being produced before the Negambo Magistrate Court over assaulting of Customs officers at Katunayake Airport over taking long time to release the dog of them retained by the customs under quarantine regulations  last July .

A Minor Earth Tremor Had Occurred At Trincomalee Lagoon

A minor earth tremor with the magnitude of 3.5 to 3.8 in richter scale had occurred at Trincomalee Lagoon in wee hours of this morning  (15) according to Geological Survey and Mines Bureau.

The Tremor had been recorded  at Pallekale ,Hakmana and Mahakandarawa Earth Tremor Centers as well it has been reported.

The aftershocks of the Tremor had been received to the surrounding areas of Trincomalee Lagoon like Muththur and Kinniya according to reports.

However no casualties or damages had been reported due to the incident. 

A Body Of A Wild Elephant Had Been Recovered At Buttala

A body of a Wild Elephant had been
recovered by Wild Life officers at Kajuwatte forest reserve in vandama,Buttala this evening (15).

Wild Life officers believe the Elephant who was around 35 years of age may have died nearly a week ago due to gun shot  injuries.The body was recoverd as per the information received from a villager it has been revealed.

Wild Life officers are investigating over the incident.
