A New Medical Ordinance To Be Drafted Within Next Two Months-Health Minister

A new Medical Ordinance will be
drafted within next two months according to Minister Of Health ,Nutrition and Indeginous Medicine Dr.Rajitha Senaratne.

A special committee appointed comprising of members proposed by the Sri Lanka Medical Council will be drafted the new Medical Ordinance within next two months Minister has informed to the Parliament yesterday (07).

The Committee was appointed to form a Medical Council like an European Medical Council Minister has further stated .

A Police Constable Was Critically Injured Due To A Road Accident

A Police Constable has been critically 
injured and hospitalized due to a Motor Car -Tipper Truck Collision occurred near the Mabole  Bridge at Wattala area last night (07).

The critically injured Police Constable had been admitted to the Ragama Teaching Hospital for treatment.

The injured Police Constable was engaged in Crimes raid and Vehicle offence work at the time of the incident it has been revealed.

The incident occurred when the Motor  Car arrived in from one end colliding with a Tipper Truck arrived from the opposite end .The Constable was injured as he was near the incident.

Tipper Truck driver was arrested by the Police Over the incident.

Two Persons Were Sentenced A 30 Year Rigorous Imprisonment Each Over A Rape Case Occurred 20 Years Ago

Anuradhapura High Court has
yesterday (07)sentenced two persons of the ages 58 and 68 years old who are residents of Devanampiyathissapura ,Anuradhapura a 30 year rigorous imprisonment each over forcibly abducting and gang  raping of a 25 year old tamil female on or nearby 21 st of August 1998 at Niraviya area.

The two accused who were  found guilty over three charges  indicted by Attorney General over the case  had been sentenced 10 year imprisonment per a charge filed against them .

The Accused were also ordered to pay a compensation of Rs.50,000 each to the victimised female and also ordered to pay a fine of  Rs.4000  each by the High Court Judge.

As the second accused was not present at court yesterday during the verdict ,Anuradhapura High Court Judge had ordered the Police to arrest him and produce before the court.The case was heard ex parte.

Navy Have Recovered Seven Parcels Of Kerala Cannabis While Floating In The Sea

Sri Lanka Navy have recovered seven
parcels containing 284 Kilo Grammes of Kerala Cannabis floating in the Mulankawil sea coast area at Mannar it has been reported.

The stock of Kerala Cannabis had been later handed over to the Mulankawil Police by the Navy.

Authorities believes that the Kerala Cannabis parcels may have been thrown in to the sea by Drug Smugglers engaging in Drug Smuggling activities via sea route.

No.one was arrested in this regard.

A Father And Daughter Injured As A Result Of A Wild Elephant Attack

A 52 year old father and his 27 year old
daughter have injured and hospitalized as a result of a Wild Elephant attack ,While travelling in a Three Wheeler to Embilipitiya at Manikdeniya in Welikanda this morning (08).

The injured father and daughter were admitted to the Welikanda Hospital for treatment.

The father ,Daughter and 15 year old son were travelling in a Three Wheeler when a Wild Elephant attacked them and the son had escaped by running away out of three wheeler it has been revealed. The Three Wheeler had been damaged severely as  a result of the attack and it had taken  around half and hour for residents to take out the female who had stucked in side the Three Wheeler out  of the vehicle according to reports.


A Businessman Was Arrested With 31 Gold Biscuits In Possession

Airport Customs officers have arrested
a 37 year old Sri Lankan Businessman who had attempted to smuggle 31 Gold Biscuits weighing 3.200 Kilo Grammes illegally to the country at Katunayake, Bandaranaike International Airport this morning (08).

The suspect who is a resident of Hatton Area had been arrested on his arrival at Katunayake Airport From Chennai, India .

The Gold Biscuits were hidden inside the shoes and underwear of the suspect it has been revealed.The estimated Value of the stock of Gold Biscuits taken in to custody in possession of the suspect is around Rs.20.8 million .

Airport Customs are conducting an investigations over the incident.
