Police Have Arrested Two Persons With Two Hand Grenades And A Haul Of Heroin

Athurugiriya Police have arrested two
persons with two foreign made hand Grenades and 1.830 Grammes of Heroin in their possession during an inspection carried out at a Lorry parked near a Bridge at Athurugiriya Express Highway last morning (04).

The suspects who are residents of Weligama and Beruwala areas are due to be produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate Court.

A front side of a Cafe at Postal Street In
Maskeliya area had destroyed due to a fire erupted in the Cafe last morning (04).

The Fire was doused by the Maskeliya Police along with the nearby shop owners it has been revealed.

No casualties had been reported due to the incident and a Gas leak has caused the fire according to Maskeliya Police.

Wild Life Officers Begun The Cleaning Of Marshy Land Caused The Deaths Of Elephants

The Department of Wild Life has
launched a programme on  completely  cleaning the  Marshy Land at National Wild Life Park in Thummodara ,Polonnaruwa which caused the deaths of Eight Elephants who died due to stucked  in mud of the Periyanaru Canal  .

Accordingly authorities have already begun the  removing of  the variety of Japanese  Jabara spread  in the canal it has been reported

Bodies of Seven Elephants stucked in the mud of the canal had removed on last Monday and a body of another Elephant had removed from the canal on yesterday (04).

Six Persons Were Injured Due To A Road Accident At Allearawa Area

Six persons including two small

children had been injured and hospitalized after the small Lorry they were travelling in veering off the road and toppled at Allearawa area on Colombo-Hatton main road this morning (04).

The injured were admitted to Balangoda Base Hospital for treatment.Their condition is not critical it has been reported.

Joint Opposition's Protest- Police Department To Use Police Powers To Prevent Any Incident Affect To Public And State Properties

Police Department has stated today (04)

that it will use Police power to combat any incident that will affect public ,State properties,Courts and
Legal Items during the protest Campaign organized by Joint Opposition in Colombo tomorrow (05).

Even the Court has ordered Police to use Police powers if something happens against the State the Department has stated.

More Police Officers are being deployed in major areas in Colombo already to strengthen the security during the protest campaign .
