Fire Erupted In Bloemendhal Garbage Dump Had Been Controlled

The fire erupted in the Bloemendhal

Garbage Dump at Kotahana this evening (04) had been controlled to  prevent  spreading further the Colombo Fire Services Department has stated.

Along with the Fire Brigade attached to Fire Services Department ,Sri Lanka Army, Airforce personal and fire Brigade of Sri Lanka Ports Authority are being engaged in dousing the fire it has been revealed. 

Body Of Another Elephant Died After Being Stucked In The Mud Of Marshy Land Recovered

Body of another Wild Elephant had
been recovered from a marshy land belongs to the Periyanaru Canal in Thummodara National Wild Life Park at Polonnaruwa today (04).

A body of a one and half year old Baby Elephant had been recovered and taken out from the mud today it has been reported.

Accordingly Bodies of  Eight Elephants who got stucked in the mud of the Canal had been recovered upto now the Wild Life Officers had revealed. 

Bodies of seven Elephants died after being stucked in the mud of the canal had been taken out from the canal yesterday (03).

The deceased Elephants may have faced this incident whilst arrived in search of water according to Wild Life officers.

Wild Life Minister Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka and Deputy Minister Palitha Thewarapperuma were also present at the occasion. 

Wild Life officers along with Army offices have expanded their search in the Marshy land by using Backo Machines  to search whether there are any other Elephant stucked in the mud.

Bookings Of Five Grounds In Colombo For Joint Opposition's Protest Had Been Cancelled -Joint Opposition MP Dinesh Gunawardane


Bookings of Five  Grounds attached to
the Colombo Municipal Council booked by Joint Opposition Group for tomorrow's  (05) "Jana Balaya"(People's Power) protest Campaign scheduled to be staged in Colombo ,have been cancelled by the Municipal Council Authorities this morning  (04) Joint Opposition MP Dinesh Gunawardana had informed the Parliament today .

The Grounds Henri Pedri's Grounds,Lalith Athulathmudali Sports Grounds ,Kirulapona, Price Park Sports Grounds ,Viharamahadevi Open Theater and Galle Face Grounds had been booked by Joint Opposition MP Asela Liyanage attached to Municipal Council through a payment last Month MP Gunawardana Has stated.

However without any reason the Colombo Mayor Rosy Senanayaka and Municipal Commissioner V.A.K Anura had cancelled the bookings of these Grounds this morning the MP has revealed.

However Municipal Council has denied the allegations made by MP Dinesh Gunawardana and stated that the grounds booked through paymemts will not be cancelled.

Court Has Turned Down Two More Requests Made By Two Police Stations Regarding Joint Opposition's Protest

Two more requests made by the Police
to issue court orders to prevent the Protest March organized by the  Joint Opposition tomorrow (05)have been rejected by the Court today  (04).

Accordingly Colombo Additional Magistrate had rejected  the requests made by the Welikada and Colpetty Police stations to issue court orders against tomorrow's  (05) protest.

Colombo Chief Magistrate Has Refused To Issue Court Order Against Tomorrow's Protest

Colombo Chief
Magistrate Ranga Dassanayake has today (04)rejected a request made by Cinnamon Gardens Police on issuing a court order preventing the Joint Opposition members and supporters from staying and Protesting at surrounding roads of President's official residence during "Jana Balaya"(People's power) protest march scheduled to be launched by the Joint Opposition Group tomorrow (05).

The Cinnamon Gardens Police had informed the Colombo Chief Magistrate today that the Intelligence Unit Officers had received reliable information regarding  Joint Opposition Group has planned to round up the Presidents official residence at Malalasekare Road,Colombo -07 during tomorrow's protest campaign by lighting candles  to prevent President from leaving the House.

The Police have named  11 Members and suppprters of Joint Opposition Group including MP's Namal Rajapakshe,RohIta Abeygunawardane ,Wimal Were wanchawalata  ,Vasudeva Nananayakkara and Dilum Amunugama as respondents attempting to round up Presidents House.

However The Colombo Chief Magistrate has refused to issue the requisite Court Order by stating that the Police fails to provide sufficient evidence to prove their charges against the Protesters.

If someone is planning to round up the Presidents House and protest it will be an act against state and Police should act against such move.Without preventing such situation and making false complaints cannot be accepted The Chief Magistrate has stressed.
