Senaratne says that the 24 percent income tax rate imposed on Medical Specialists had been reduced to 15 percent during the talks held with Minister of Finance Mangala Samara Weera ,Ministry Of Finance had stated that no such decision has been taken and the income tax rate of Medical Specialists will remain same.
According to the Ministry Of Finance during the talks held between Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera ,Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne and Medical Specialists Union representatives on last Friday, it had been decided to give a concession when implementing the income tax on Specialists.
However no decision had been taken to revise Income Tax rates according to Inland Revenue Tax Act the Ministry has stated.
