Intelligence Unit Of Welikada Prison Had Been Dissolved

The Intelligence Unit of the Welikada Prison had been dissolved as per the instructions of Minister of Justice and Prison Reforms Thalathat Atukorale according to the Ministry.

The Welikada Intelligence Unit had been dissolved after considering the complaints received on various fraud and corruption activities occurred in Prison Department it has been revealed.

Uduwe Dhammaloka Thero Had Been Disembarked From A Flight

The Immigration And Emigration

officials have today (26)disembarked the Uduwe Dhammaloka Thero from a flight at Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport over attempting to flying to London without considering the travel ban imposed on him by the Court.


The Thero Who arrived in Katunayake Airport to board a flight to London not allowed to enter the Airport by the officials earlier and later he was allowed to board a flight.

However shortly before the flight scheduled to be taken off  The thero was disembarked from the flight by the officials after learning  that the Court allowed him to go abroad from 25 th of August to 12 th of October this year.

He was arrested and remanded  earlier over keeping a Baby Elephant illegally in his temple and later released on bail.

Eighteen Bus Passangers Have Been Injured And Hospitalized Due To A Road Accident At A-9 Road

Around 18 Bus passangers have been
injured and hospitalized after the Sri Lanka Transport Board(SLTB) Bus they were travelling in veering off the road and toppled over at Punawa area on A-9 road this morning(25).

The injured have been admitted to the Vavuniya General.Hospital for treatment and their condition is not critical according to sources.

The Bus was travelling from Colombo to Pudukudiirippu area at the time of the accident and the accident occurred due to the driver falling a sleep while driving.

Police Fired Tear Gas And Water Canons To Disperse A Protest March At Lotus Roundabout

Police have used Tear Gas and Water Canons to disperse a protest march conducted by HNDE Students over several of their demands including the increase of the "Mahapola" scholarship allowance from Rs.1500 to Rs.5000 this evening (25) at the Lotus Roundabout in Colombo Fort when they have attempted to march towards the Presidential Secretariat .

The Protest march of the HNDE Students had begun from Punchi Borella Junction and  as it marches to Colombo Fort through Maradana and Colombo Fort a heavy traffic congestion had been reported from those areas.

As the students attempted to march towards the Presidential Secretariat the riot Police had fired Tear Gas and Water Cannons to disperse the protestors . A Student protestor was injured due to the Tear Gas it has been reported.
