Prisons Department Had Submitted A List Of 18 Names Who Are In Death Row Over Drug Smugglong To The Justice Ministry
Department of Prisons Had submitted a list of 18 persons including a female and four Pakistani Nationals who were sentenced to death over Drug smuggling charges ,to the Ministry Of Justice today(15)it has been revealed.
These Prisoners had not appealed against their Death sentence according to reports.
Government has recently decided to implement Capital Punishment over the Prisoners who are being sentenced to Death over Drug smuggling and still involved in that in Prisons.President Maithripala Sirisena has stated that he is ready to sign the implementation of Capital Punishment over the prisoners who are in death row and still involved in Drug Smuggling in prisons .
Around 10,535 prison inmates are currently serving sentences in local Prisons over Drug Smiggling charges according to reports.
However Prisons Depsrtment has not stated whether the prisoners whose names included in the list submitted to the Justice Ministry are still engaging in drug smuggling.

A Navy Soldier Was Arrested With Three Fake Currency Notes
Madawachchiya Police have arrested a 28 year old Navy Soldier with three fake Sri Lankan currency notes including a Rs.5000 note and two Rs.1000 notes in his possession at a Electric Equipment shop at punawa in Madawachchiya area.
The soldier was arrested by the Police while attempting to putchase an Electric Equipment through the fake currency notes, as per informed by the shop owner.
The suspect is due to be produced before the Madawachchiya Magistrate Court.
