Police have recovered five parcels containing 1.416 Kilo  Grammes of Heroin buried in Senanveli Beach at Serunuwara area this noon(15).

No one arrested in this regard and the estimated value of the haul of Heroin recovered is around Rs.17 million according to police.

A Navy Soldier Was Arrested With Three Fake Currency Notes

Madawachchiya Police have arrested a 28 year old Navy Soldier with three fake Sri Lankan currency notes including a Rs.5000 note and two Rs.1000 notes in his possession at a Electric Equipment shop at punawa in Madawachchiya area.

The soldier was arrested by the Police while attempting to putchase an Electric Equipment through the fake currency notes, as per informed by the shop owner.

The suspect is due to be produced before the Madawachchiya Magistrate Court.

A Large Acres Of Land In Kurundupitiya Reserve Have Been Destroyed Due To A Fire

A large acres of land belongs to the Kurundupitiya reserve in Vavuniya have been destroyed due to a sudden fire erupted in the reserve since this noon(14) according to the police.

The fire which spreaded rapidly due to the strong winds and dry weather prevailing in the area had doused by the Fire brigade officials attached to the Vavuniya Urban Council by using water bowsars.
