Petrol And Diesel Prices Are Up

Government has today (10)decided to increase the prices of Petrol and Diesel by Rs.8 and Rs.9  per liter respectively with effect from midnight tonight(10).

The Price increase wiil be implemented under the new price mechanism introduced by the Ministry Of Finance.

According to the Price Mechanism introduced by the Ministry Of Finance the price of A liter of Petrol and Diesel will be increased or decreased  in every two months as per the prices in World Market.

As per the Price Mechanism inrtoduced by the Ministry Of Finance the Prices of Petrol and Diesel of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation have been increased with effect from mid night last Thursday  night However on the following day price increase was cancelled as per the instructions of President Maithripala Sirisena.

According to the new price increase a liter of Octane-95 Petrol will be increased to Rs.145 and a liter of Octane-92 Petrol will be increased to Rs.155.

Price of a Liter of Diesel will be increased to Rs.118 and a liter of Super Diesel will be increased to Rs.129.

Attorney General Had Ordered The IGP To Hold An Inquiry Over LTTE Favoured Speech of MP Vijayakala Maheswaran

Attorney General has today(10) ordered
the Inspector General Of Police(IGP) Pujitha Jayasundara to conduct a formal inquiry on the LTTE Favoured speech made by former State Minister of Women and Child Affairs Vijayakala Maheswaran and submit a report .

Speaker Karu Jayasuriya had also requested Attorney General to express his opinion over the Former State Minister's speech.

MP Maheswaran has recently resigned from her State Minister's post over her controversial speech.

A Police OIC Was Arrested Over Accepting A Rs.300,000 As A Bribe From A Businessman

The Officer In Charge (OIC) of Kalkuda Police Station had arrested by the Bribery  Commission officials today(10) while accepting Rs.300,000 as a bribe from a Businessman.
The suspect has demanded a bribe of Rs.500,000 from a Businessman  To issue a Police Report to him to obtain an Environmental License from  Central Environmental Authority to start a Brick cutting Business in Kalkuda area and he was arrested while accepting Rs.300,000 from the demanded money at the Koralepattu Pradeshiya Sabah in Valachechena area.
The Suspect is due to be produced before the Valachchena Magistrate Court.
