Three Persons Have Died After Their Boat Capsized In Eggal Oya

Three persons have died and one went

missing after the Boat they were travelling in Capsized in the eggal oya(River) at Damana-Ampara this morning(08).

Nine persons including the students, Teachers ,The Principal and a security officer attached to the Siri Sivali Collage in Kandana-Badulla went for a boat ride during a school trip to Damana and faced this incident after capsizing   their Boat.

Five out of the nine persons who have drowned due to the incident have been rescued by the fishermen in the area.

Out of the four persons went missing bodies of three persons including the Principal,A teacher ,A 13 year old student and a security officer of the school have found this evening according to the police.Police believes the body of the other missing  person may be hidden under the mud of the river..

Two Persons Have Been Arrested With Rs.6.4 Million Worth Foreign Currency Notes

Two persons were arrested by the
Airport customs officers  while attempting to smuggle Rs.6.4 million worth foreign currency notes illegally  to Singapore last night(06) at the Katunayake,Bandaranaike International Airport .

The two suspects who were 33 and 61 years old residents of Gampaha District have hidden the foreign currency notes they have planned to smuggle in their luggages and under their cloths it has been revealed.

Euros and British sterling pounds are among the foreign currency notes recovered from the suspects the Airport customs officers have stated.

The two suspects have been released after warning them and the foreign currency notes taken in to custody in their possession have been confiscated.


Fire Had Destroyed A Plastic Goods Selling Trade Stall Building In Fort

A fire had destroyed a Plastic Goods
Selling Trade Stall building at Main cross street in Colombo -Fort today(07).

The fire spread to a nearby trade stall as well it has been reported.

Fire Brigade attached to  Colombo Municipal Council along with Sri Lanka Navy arrived at the scene and had doused the fire.
