Cabinet Approved A Proposal On Making Artificial Rain In Drought Hit And Hydrocatchment Areas
- Under the Proposal submitted to the Cabinet by Minister Daya Gamage it has been suggested to create Artificial Rain through spraying a chemical to the clouds (Cloud seeding)by using an Aircraft and spraying a chemical to air from.a mountanous area in Kotmale.
This programme on creating Artificial Rain will be implemented under the supetvision of Ministry of Primary Industries and a University in China it has been revealed.
A Team of Thai experts too arrived in Sri Lanka recently to study the possibility of making Artificilal Rain in relevant areas of the country.
A Person Was Arrested While Attempting To Smuggle Foreign Currency Notes To Singapore
Airport Customs Officers have arrested
a 28 year old Sri Lankan while attempting to smuggle foreign currency notes worth more than Rs.40 million to Singapore at the Katunayake ,Bandaranaike International Airport last evening(05).
The suspect who is a resident of Negambo area had attempted to depart to Singapore via a Emirates flight with the foreign currency notes the Customs have said.The foreign currency notes including American Dollars ,Swiss Franks,Danish Kronars , Euros ,Saudi Riyals and Oman Royals have been worth more than Rs.40 million it has been revealed.
The Currency Notes were hidden in three luggages and a file cover carried by the suspect.
Airport Customs are investigating over the incident.
