A Sri Lankan Female Was Arrested With 102 Illegal Cigarette Cartons At Katunayake Airport

A 40 year old Sri Lankan Female was
arrested by the Airport Customs today(20) while attempting to smuggle 102 cartons contains  foreign made Cigarette sticks illegally in to the country.

The female who has arrived in from Dubai was arrested while taking the Cigarette cartons out of the Airport it has been revealed.

The estimated value of  the Stock of Cigarettes taken in to custody  in possession of the suspected female is around Rs.1 Million.

Kelaniya River Has Reached Spill Level From Awissawella And Deraniyagala

Due to the heavy showers prevailing in the water level of Kelaniya River has reached spill level from Awissawella and Deraniyagala areas according to the Disaster Management Center.

People living in low land areas around the Kelani River including Biyagama, ,Kelaniya,Hanwella,Kaduwela areas are being advised to be vigilant over the situation.

Four Persons Injured Due To A Road Accident In Southern Expressway- Seven Accidents Occurred In Expressways During Today

Four persons including a small child
have been injured and hospitalized after a high speed Jeep they were travelling in toppled through the security fence at Southern Expressway today(20) between Dodangoda and Galanigama areas according to the Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekare.

The condition of the small child and a female who are among the injured is critical it has been revealed.

The accident has occurred due to the driver's inability to control the speed of the vehicle SP Gunasekare has stated.

Besides this accident another six accidents have  occurred in Southern and Katunayake Expressways during today it has been announced.

Meanwhile Police have advised the motorists using Southern and Katunayake-Colombo Expressways to restrict the vehicle speed to 60 Kilo meters per hour due tothe  slippery conditions in Expressways.

A Large Number Of Houses And A Road Submerged Due To The Floods In Ayagama And Kiriella

Due to the heavy showers prevailing since last night(19) the branch river of the Kalu river ,The galathura river has overflown and as a result a large number of houses in Kiriella and Ayagama Provincial secreteriats (Ratnapura District)have been submerged due to the floods it has been reported.

The Ayagama-Idangoda road has been submerged from many sections and transport activities of the area cut off due to this situation it has been reported.

People in these areas are facing enormous difficulties due to this situation it has been revealed.
