Colombo Grand Mosque Has Announced The Begining Of The Ramadan Fast
However majority of Muslim Countries including Saudi Arabia had earlier announced that the Month of Ramadan fasting will begin tomorrow(17) as the new moon was not visible.
Meanwhile Cabinet has approved to import a proposal on importing 250 metric tonnes of Dates from Saudi Arabia to Sri Lanka in view of distribute them among Muslim families with exonomic difficulties in the country through Muslim Churches .
The Cabinet proposal in this regars had been submitted to the Cabinet by the Prime Minister and Minister of Islsmic Affairs.
Meanwhile Saudi Arabia has not provided Dates to the Muslim Community of Sri Lanka this year as in previous years it has been revealed.
Economic Expert And Former Minister MP Bandula Gunawardane Had Given Wrong Statistics On Kerosene Oil Prices
One of the most notable incidents occurred on Tuesday(15) is that the wrong statistics given to media by the so called Economic Expert,Well known tutor of Economics and the Former Economic Minister of the Country ,Joint Opposition MP Bandula Gunawardana during a press briefing held in Colombo over prices of Kerosene Oil.
During the Briefing he has revealed that a liter of Kerosene Oil costs Rs.111 in 2014 during previous regime and now with the new price increase it increased to Rs.157 .However after the Media personal there reminding him that the price of a Kerosene Liter has been increased from Rs.44 to Rs.101 not to Rs.157 as he mentioned, The former Minister says I have to look back again on the sttistics then.
MP Gunawardana however is a strong critic of the Government's economic policies ,But this time he has proved that his knowledge on the Economics is poor as other politiciens of the countrt
y.
