A 16 year old student attached to the

Athuraliya Collage in Akuressa has drowned while bathing in Kithanawala Wewa(River) at Athuraliya in Akuressa last friday(04) with his friends.

The residents of the area have recovered the body of the student during a search operation .

A 17 year old Motorcyclist was killed

due to a Motorcycle -Bus acccident occurred at Danketiya area in Tangalle-Weeraketiya main road last morning(05).

The accident occurred when a Bus attempting to overtake another Bus and as a result the Bus attempting to overtake collided with the Motorcycle ridden by the deceased Motorcyclist according to the Tangalle Police.

A spill gate of the  Udawalawe Reservoir has been opened this evening(05)due to the rising water level of the reservoir as a result of  heavy showers experiencing in the area according to the Disaster Management Center.

The people living  in low land areas near Walawe river should be vigilant over the situation the Center has stated.
