Transport Activities Of New Kelaniya Bridge To Be Restricted Over A Repair Work

Transport activities of the New Kelaniya Bridge will be  restricted from tomorrow(03) up to this Saturday (05) from time to time over a repair work of the Bridge according to the Police.

Image result for new kelani bridgeDue to the Transport restrictions in the Bridge  implemented during the given period ,a heavy traffic may have occurred  during entering Colombo City and departing the city of Colombo-Kandy road near the Kelaniya Roundabout the Police have stated.

Motorists are advised to use an alternative routes to travel due to this situation.

A Buddhist Monk Was Arrested Over Illegally Excavating Caves In A Cave Temple

A Buddhist Monk was arrested by the Police Officers attached to the Archeology Conservation Special Police Division in Badulla District early this morning(02) over illegally excavating the caves of Cave Temple "Urumeethanna Purana Raja Maha Viharaya" at Passara area , in search of the  valuable objects with Archeological value .

The Buddhist Monk  was disappeared from the area since few months and he was arrested soon after returned to the Temple.The arrest was made after investigations carried out over the excavation work as per the information provided by villagers it has been stated.

Ban Imposed On Using "Glyphosate" In Tea And Rubber Has Been Removed-

The ban imposed on using  of controversial "Glyphosate " substance for local crop cultivation's  will be lifted  only for Tea and Rubber crops the Minister Of Plantation Industries Naveen Dissanayake has announced today (02).

According to the Minister the President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe have been informed on this and a Cabinet approval is due to be taken to implement the removal of ban imposed over Utilizing "Glyphosate " for Tea and Rubber .

 The removal of the ban on using "Glyphosate" in Tea and Rubber crops has been taken after a stock of Tea exported to Japan was sent back to Sri Lanka due to contamination of another pesticide chemical use in  Tea cultivation.

Importing,Distributing and Selling of "Glyphosate" in Sri Lanka has banned by the Good Governance government in 2015 over it's link to spreading of unknown Kidney Disease spreading in most parts of the country.

 Glyphosate is a broad-spectrum systemic herbicide and crop desiccant. It is an organophosphorus compound, specifically a phosphonate. It is used to kill weeds, especially annual broad leaf weeds and grasses that compete with crops.
