A Couple Arrested Over Attempting To Smuggle A Stock Of Gold To India
Airport customs officers had
today(22)arrested a couple attempted to smuggle 2.35 Kilo Grammes of Gold to Mumbai,India at Katunayake, Bandara naike International Airport.
The estimated value of the Stock of Gold taken in to custody in possession of the suspected couple is more than Rs.9 million it has been revealed.
The male and female arrested with the stock of Gold are of the ages 31 and 34 years and residents of Maradana area according to customs.

Some Houses In South Submerged With Sea Water Due To The Rough Seas
Some houses in Southern Province near
the sea area had submerged with sea water today(22)as a result of the rough seas appeared in Western ,Southern and South Eastern sea areas according to reports.
However the Meteorology Department has requested the public in these areas not to panic over the situation as the rough seas will appear upto this Tuesday(24) due to the disturbance in lower atmosphere.
Seas in Puttalam to Galle via Batticaloa will be rough and fisheries communities in tbese areas should refrain from going to sea these days Met Department has stated.
Chief Lab Technologist Arested Over The Ammonia Tank Incident Had Remanded
The chief female Lab technologist of the
Rubber Manufacturing factory in ballepitiya,Horana who was arrested over the deaths of five factory workers after falling to a Ammonia Tank there,had been remanded today (22)by the Horana acting Magistrate Jayantha Jayasuriya until 25 th of April.
The suspected female was produced
Before the acting Magistrate today by the Horana Police.
The Manager of The factory too got arrested over the incident and remanded until 25 th of April.
During the proceedings Horana police have informed the acting Magistrate that the owner of the Rubber Manufacturing factory had fled away from.the area after the Ammonia Tank incident and reqursted to issue a court order prevent him from going abroad.
Accordingly Horana acting Magistrate had issued a court order preventing the Rubber factory owner who is a resident of Cinamon Gardens going abroad and instructed the authorities to inform Katunayake and Mattala Airports on the court order.
