Attorney At Law Maithree Gunaratne Was Arrested With Two Firearms Without Licences-Suspect Was Later Released On Bail After Producing Gun Licences

Kadugannawa Police had
today(31)arrested the General Secretary of United National  Fredom Front Attorney At Law Maithree Gunaratne over keeping two fire arms without valid licences and ten bullets in possession at Kadugannawa Junction.

The two firearms and bullets were taken in to custody while they were stored inside his jeep.

However after he had been produced before the Kandy Magistrate Court the suspect had produced the copies of the licences obtained for the two firearms taken in to police custody and the Magistrate had later released him on two surety bails it has been reported.

Case filed against Maithree Gunaratne over the incident is due to be taken up for hearing on 13 th of June

Two Persons Were Injured Due To A Road Accident

Two persons have been injured and
hospitalized due to a high speed Cab Vehicle colliding with a Motor car and a lamp post near the Bandarawela Police Station this morning(31).

The Cab driver and a pedestrian were injured and admitted to Bandarawela Hospital due to the incident.

A Female Was Killed And Three others injured Due To A Three Wheeler -Lorry Collision

family were injured and hospitalized after the Three Wheeler they were travelling in colliding with a Lorry parked at a corner of the road at Kahakorawewa area on Anuradhapura-Puttalam road this morning(31).

The injured were admitted to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital for treatment.

The accident occurred as a result of the Three Wheeler driver had fallen a sleep while at the wheel according to the Anuradhapura Police which conducting an investigation over the incident.

Police have arrested the Lorry driver regarding the accident.

Two Persons Were Arrested With A Stock Of Cigarette Sticks Illegally Brought To The Country

Airport Customs officers have arrested
two Sri Lankan Nationals arrived in Katunayake, Bandaranaike Intetnatio nal Airport from Dubai today(31) with 13,000 cigarette sticks stored in 65 boxes in possession.

The two suspects who are residents of Ihala Kottaramulla and Colombo and of the ages 42 and 29  years were arrested while they have attempted to leave the Airport according to Police.

The estimated value of the Stock of Cigarette sticks taken in to custody in possession of the suspects is around Rs.650,000 it has been revealed.

The stock of Cigarette sticks had confiscated and the two suspects were released on bails of Rs.50,000 and Rs.10,000 respectively.
