Prisons Commissioner Arrested Over Killings Of Prison Inmates Sent On Compulsory Leave
Prisons Department had taken steps to
sent the Prisons Commissioner Emil Ranjan Lamahewa on compulsory leave over his involvment in the killings of prison inmates at Welikada prison during a riot in the prison in 2012.
Emil Ranjan Lamahewa and Police Inspector Neomal Rangajeewa were arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over the killings of prison inmates and they were remanded until 10 th of April .
However both of them were later transferred to the prisons hospital over an illness it has been revealed.
Further action is due to be taken against the suspected Prisons commissioner after investigating on the incident the department has said.

Three Persons Arrested With Live Bullets And A Sword
Special Police Task Force Personal had
arrested three persons with six live bullets ,A motorcycle and a sword in their possession at Keselwatte area in Colombo.
The arrests were made during a search operation caried out in a House at Keselwatte.
The suspects and materials arrested have been handed over to the Crimes Prevention Division for further investigations.

Six Indian Nationals Were Arrested Over Illegally Staying In Sri Lanka
Chilaw Police had arrested six Indian
nationals illegally staying in the country and working at a hotel in Chilaw yesterday(29).
Police have also arrested the Hotel Manager over helping the suspects to illegally stay in Sri Lanks.
The suspects of the ages 22- 36 years have been remanded until 02 nd of April by the Chilaw Magistrate Court after been produced them before the court today.

Government Has Not Banned Pandals And Dansala's During Vesak And Poson Poya Days-Information Dept.

has insisted today (30) that the government has not decided to ban pandals and dansala's(alms giving centers) during vesak and poson poya days as stated by some media reports.
There's no truth in those reports which quoted Minister of Buddhasasana Gamini Jayawikrama Perera as saying government has banned vesak and poson pandals and dansala's the Department has said.
Anyone can show pandals and conduct dansala's during vesak and poson poya days the Information Department has stressed.
