A Person Was Arrested With A Large Stock Of Foreign Made Illegal Liquor Bottles In Possession

Police Anti Narcotic Bureau officials
have arrested a 44 year old person with 15.431 foreign made liquor bottles keeping illegally in  his possession at Kotahena area last evening(22).

The estimated value of the stock of Liquor Bottles taken in to custody in possession of the suspect is around Rs.50 million it has been revealed.

The suspect who is a resident of Colpetty area was later released on police bail and he is due to be produced before the Maligakande Magistrate Court on 28 th of March.


A 24 Year Old Was Drowned And Died And Another Went Missing While Bathing In Sea Area Of Hikkaduwa

A 24 year old youth was drowned and
died and another 18 year old  teanager  was drifted away by strong sea waves while bathing in sea area of Hikkaduwa this morning (23).

The 24 year old youth who was a resident of Katupolwatte area was rescued by the residents of the area while drifting away by strong sea waves and he has  died  after admission to Balapitiya Hospital.

Navy had launched a search operation to find out the missing teanager who is a resident of Galle area.

The two youth had faced this incident while bathing with a group of other youth during a cricket match played by them  at Hikkaduwa today.


A Former Female Principal Was Sentenced A Five Year Rigorous Imprisonment

Colombo High Court has today (23) sentenced a former
female Principal of Aluvihara Collage in Matale a  five year rigorous imprisonment over accepting Rs.150,000 as a bribe from a parents to admit a  child to grade one of the school.

The Principal was sentenced five year rigorous imprisonment over four indictment charges including accepting Rs.150,0Was Was00 bribe from a child's parents.

Bribery Commission's  officials had arrested the accused female Principal on 08th of February 2014 while accepting Rs.150,000 out of the Rs.200,000 requested from parents it has been revealed.


By delivering the verdict against the accused Teacher Colombo High Court Judge Gihan Kulathunge has imposed a fine of Rs.60,000 on the Principal  and ordered her to pay Rs.150,000 to the child's parents.

A Fisheries Boat Had Caught Fire After Begining It' s First Journey

"Janath Putha-2" fisheries Boat made by
the Ministry of Fisheiries had caught fire in mid sea area soon after begining  it's first journey from Dikowita fisheries harbour today(22) along with a  other boat "Janath Putha-1 " it has been reported.

The boat which caught fire is in sea area 51 kilo meters away from Hikkaduwa and the fishermen in the boat were rescued by the other boat sailing  with it.

America Avoids MP Namal Rajapakshe From Travelling To USA From Russia

Joint Opposition MP Namal Rajapakshe
who is the eldest son of former President Mahinda Rajapakshe was not allowed to travel to Houston in United States Of America by the American authorities ,from Russian capital Moscow where he had participated as an Independent observer of the recently concluded Russian Presidential Election it has been reported.

MP Rajapakshe who had attempted to board an Emirates Aircraft in Moscow to travel Houston to participate a funeral of his relative was not allowed to travel as per an instructions issued by the Home affairs Ministry in USA to the Emirates Airline offocials it has been revealed.

The cause of the decision has not yet been revealed.

Three School Boys Were Remanded Until 05th Of April Over Posting Hatred Posts In Social Media

Colombo Chief Magistrate has ordered
to detain three School Boys arrested by the Criminal Investigstions Department (CID) over posting posts in Social Media sites indicating hate and anger over a community at the Makole Child Detention Center until 05th of April.

The three suspected school boys are attached to a popular schools in Colombo .
