Twenty Three Indian Nationals Have Been Arrested Over Staying In The Country By Violating Immigration Laws

The Immigration And Emigrarion 
officials have yesterday  (14)arrested 23 Indian Nationals including a female over staying in Sri Lanka by violating immigration laws during raids carried out in three places of Sea Street ,Pettah last  morming (14).

The suspected Indian Nationals have been arrested over engaging in differernt employment after arriving in the country with  tourist visas .The suspects who are in the age group of  25-30 have been engaged in cloth selling ,fortune telling and mason work at the time of their arrest.

They are due to be expelled from the country soon  according to the authorities.

A Person Received Death Sentence Over Keep In Possession Of 14.06 Grammes Of Heroin

Colombo High Court Judge Gihan Kulatgunge has

today (14)passed a Death Sentence to a person who found guilty over keeping in possession and smuggling 14.06 Grammes of Heroin .

The death sentence was passed when the case against the accused was taken up for hearing today (14).

The accused was arrested by the Police Anti Narcotic Bureau on 04th of October 2008 in Kalubowila area over smuggling and keep in possession of haul of Heroin .Police Anti Narcotic Bureau  had filed indictments against the accused in Colombo High Court. 

Seeduwa Police Crimes OIC Was Remanded Until 28th Of March Over Accepting A Bribe

Colombo Chief Magistrate has today (14) ordered to
remand the Crimes OIC (Officer In Charge) of Seeduwa Police who was arrested by the Bribery Commission yesterday (13) over accepting a bribe at the garage in the Police. Until 28th of March.


The suspect Kasthuriarachchige Ashoka Weerathilake of Ja-Ela was arrested by the Bribery Commission over accepting a Rs.25,000 from a person to act in his favour during a court procedure.


Bribery Commission Filed A Petition In Supreme Court Reauesting To Cancel A Partial Court Order Given By Judge Eva Wanasundare

Bribery Commission has today (14)filed a petition  in
Supreme Court  requesting to cancel the order given by Supreme Court Judge panel member Eva Wanasundare suspending the hearing a complaint filed at Colombo Magistrate Court by the Bribery Commission against former Chief Justice Mohan Pieris and Court Of Appeal Judge A.H.M Nawaz.

By ordering to suspend the hearing of the complaint made by Bribery Commission ,Judge Eva Wanasundare had acted partial manner the Commission has stated tbrough it's petition.

Bribery Commission has named former Chief Justice Mohan Pieris,Former Court Of Appeal Judge A.H.M Nawaz and three others as respondents of the petition.

Bribery Commission Officials Had Arrested Two Officials Of Ayurveda Department Over Acceating A Bribe


Bribery Commission officials have
today (14)arrested an Ayurveda Doctor and an Assistant Legal Officer attached to the Ayurveda Department in Maharagama while accepting a Rs.50,000 as a bribe from an official of Ayurveda Production Company at Ayurveda Department premises.

The two suspected officials had requested the Company officials a bribe of Rs.300,000 to submit a proposal to the committee of Ayurveda Department and  get an approval for  a new licence to the Company for 2018 .However later that amount was reduced to Rs. 250,000 and from that amount the two officers were arrested while accepting an advance from.the Company officials.

After Investigations regarding the incident oncludes
the two suspects wil be produced before the Colombo Fort Magistrate .
