No Curfew For Kandy Today-Situation There Back To Normal :Police Media Spokesman

Police have decided not to impose
curfew again in Kandy District Due to  the peaceful enviornment prevails in the  District at present according to the Police Media Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekare.

The curfew which was imposed in Kandy except the Kandy Municipal area from 8 p.m last night (09)was lifted at 5  a.m today (10) .

The life in Kandy District now back to normal and no.incidents have been reported during yesterday and today it has been revealed.

The security is tightened in the District and investigations are continuing regarding the violent activities Erupted in several areas of the District recently SP Gunasekare has stated.

More Than 100 Complaints Received To The Information Center Regarding Communal Violence In Kandy

An Information Center formed attached to the
Government Information Depart ment in Narahenpita  to receive complaints regarding  the communal violance in  Kandy District had received 126 complaints by today (09)it has been announced.

Out of these Complaints 103 were received through e mail and 23 were received through phone calls.These complaints had  sent to relevent authorities including Police to take an action the Information Department has stated.

Summons Issued To The Former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake To Appear Before Colombo Magistrate Court

Colombo Additional Magistrate had today (09) issued


summons to former Finance Minister MP Ravi Karunanayake to appear before the Magistrate Court on 23rd of April this year to give evidence on a bribery case related to Co-operative Wholesale Establishment (CWE-SATHOSA).

Former Finance Minister was requested to appear before the court to give an evidence on a case filed against the former acting General Manager Of CWE over importing and selling of 1000 metric tonnes of rice by violating normal selling procedures and incur a loss of Rs.4 million to the government.

Former Minister was requested to appear before the court today ,However his Lawyers had informed
the court that their client was not able to come due to Parliament sessions.
