Prime Minister Informed The Parliament That The Explosion Occurred In The Bus In Diyathalawa Was Not A Terrorist Activity

Prime Minister Ranil Wikramasinghe has today
(21)informed the  Parliament that the Explosion which led to fire occurred in a Private Bus at Kahagolla, Diyathalawa this morning (21)was due to a a grenade explosion and not a terrorist activity.

Army Commander has confirmed that the explosion had occurred due to a hand Grenade and Police have launched an investigation over the incident which injured 19 persons including 12 military personal Prime Minister has stated.

It is believed that the Grenade carried by a military personal was exploded at the next seat behind the Drivers seat of the Private Bus according to sources.

The injured were admitted to the Diyathalawa Hospital for treatment.

Fire brigade and the Police have rushed to the scene and doused the fire however the bus was severely damaged at that time it has been revealed.




Few Roads In Colombo Temporarily Closed Due To A Anti SAITM Protest March

The roads from Colombo Town -Hall towards
Borella,Ward place and Lotus Road in Colombo fort have been temporarily closed this evening (21)due to a Anti SAITM protest march conducted by  Anti SAITM  students Peoples Movement .

Police have requested the Motorists to use an alternative routes due to the closure of these roads and as a result heavy traffic has been reported in roads around Colombo it has been reported.

The Anti SAITM Medical students,their parents and University students have participated this protest march which conducted by demanding to solve few of their demands including suspending the deafts prepared by the government to legalize the SAITM (Malabe Private Medical Collage)by another name and abolish the gazette notification issued regarding minimum srandards of medical  education.

The protest march had begun from the University of Fihe Arts in Colombo.

Nineteen Passangers Including Twelve Army And Airforce Personal Injured And Hospitalized Due To An Explosion And Fire In A Bus


Nineteen Bus passengers including 12 Army and Air force personal have been injured and hospitalized due to a fire occurred as a result of an  explosion in a Private Bus at Kahagolla,Diyathalawa this morning(21). The injured including a female were admitted to the Diyathalawa Hospital for treatment and most of the injured received injuries to their legs according to sources.


 The explosion and the fire occurred in a Bus traveling from Bandarawela to Diyathalawa and there are 07 Army and 05 Air force personal among the injured it has been revealed.

The injured Passengers arrived in another Bus from Jaffna and due to a technical default of the Bus engine the Passengers were transferred to the Bus where the explosion occurred at Bandarawela according to reports.

It is widely believed that a Hand Grenade carried by a Military member in the Bus may have exploded and the Bus caught fire as a result.
