Former President Has Requested The Government To Dissolve The Parliament And Hold Fresh Elections

Image result for sri lanka parliamentAddressing the first  press briefing of the Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna(Sri Lanka Peoples Front) in Colombo  today(12) after winning the Local Government Elections held last Saturday(10) the Party leader and former President Mahinda Rajapakshe had requested the government to dissolve the Parliament immediately and hold fresh Parliamentary Elections in view of establishing a strong Government .

"In the end this local government election has become a National Election and a Referendum which  goes beyond the electing of a member to a Village Council "he has stressed.Due to the instability in the country at present due to the Podu Jana Permanuna's election victory government should dissolve the Parliament the former President has stated.

Podu Jana Peramuna achieved this victory due to the Tax burden ,Relief aid cuts and revenge of the government he said.

Nearly 200 Election Complaints Received By The Police

Nearly 200 election complaints have been received by the police from 6 a.m
 on yesterday (10)to this noon (11)according to the Police Headquarters.

Threats , blaming and violation of election laws were among the complaints received it has been revealed.

A Buddhist Monk Was Attacked By An Unknown Persons

Venerable Havaniwala Chandrajothi Thero in Wara parana Sri Jinendarama
Temple was injured and hospitalized after two unidentified persons covered their faces  assaulting him this morning (11).

The injured monk was admitted to the Gampaha Hospital for treatment.

The suspects were identified  as an activists of a political party and hey had tied the Buddhist monk in to a chair and assaulted him it has been revealed.

Malwathu /Hiripitiya police are conducting an investigations on the incident.
